I can't load the 128XL OS - tearing my hair out here, please

Hi,

I've recently installed the XLCD (also replaced all my tact switches, installed a hard drive and replaced my screwed Q-Link PCB!) and everything's working fine with the basic 128 OS.

I run the 128XL OS from the CF card as normal to load it in demo mode, but when I restart the MPC it gets to the start screen and then just stays there, flashing on and off - it doesn't actually start up.

I understood that I should be able to load it - just not save until I buy the password.

I'm really gutted as at the moment I have less functionality than I did before when I was running OS1.

Has anyone else had this problem loading an OS? What should I do?

Redownload. Sounds like you didn't get the whole file. Compare filesize on site to your file.

Yesterday, I installed the new screen and loaded 128 OS, then, loaded 128xl OS soon after JJ sent the password. I had no issues. I had been drinking alot at the time and I attributed that to not f.cking anything up.


While I waited for the password I made a few splash screens. Remember to use 240 x 148 pixels and name the file mpc1000_128.bmp or mpc2500_128.bmp. Save as Monochrome 1 bit.

If you have Windows, you can do it in Paint.
