Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello, I purchased a used MPC2000XL in England, london around may of this year in an old electronic store. The owner gave me the power supply and thinking to ask about the right voltage, amp etc slipped my mind. He gave me a 250v lead while the back of the MPC says 100-240v, I just noticed this now. Between now and may of this year the MPC has worked fine although it gets quite noisy. The territory designation on the rear of the unit is BJEV. So should I never use the 250v lead again if so what would be the best lead voltage to purchase?

The type of power lead makes no difference to the voltage coming out of the power socket on the wall, and going into the MPC.

The internal MPC power supply has to be capable of operating at the voltage coming out of the power socket, that is nothing to do with the type of power lead.

The power lead only has to have the correct plug to fit the power socket on the wall in your country, it has nothing to do with the actual voltage level that the MPC can operate at, or the voltage that the MPC will receive through the power lead.

The BJEV primary destination code is...
B - UK
J - Japan
E - Europe (except UK)
V - Germany

So, the internal power supply in your MPC (not the power lead) is designed to operate correctly at the mains power supply voltage level in those regions.

What country are you located in?

I think you will probably find that the actual voltage in your country is specified at somewhere between 220 and 240 V, and is not actually 250 V.

Though, the specs usually have an acceptable margin of error in the voltage level, so a country such as the UK (and here in Australia) which is specified at 230 V, is actually 230 V +10%/−6%, so can be anywhere from 216.2 V to 253 V and still be within the tolerances of the 230 V specs.

Ok thanks for the replies, it's been working fine all year but as I was moving my equipment back home from uni for the christmas break I noticed and started worrying, reading stories of MPCs not turning on and over heating due to issues related to power supply.
