Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So i got the mcd kit from mpcstuff.com, upgraded my os to 1.2 and installed the kit. But when i turn my mpc on with the mcd installed in it my screen goes completely blank and every little light lights up, it freezes up in short terms. I have tried reinstalling it and have had the same problem. I can't figure out what would be causing this if there is anyone out there that has experienced the same problem and fixed it please help me out i can't figure out a thing.

I managed to get it working i had the data cable (big gray cable) in the wrong way apparently, the instructions did not explain that part very well. when i flipped it the mpc didnt freeze anymore but it wouldnt show the atapti in the load screen it was still showing floppy, but i disconnected the data cable from the mpc and the mcd drive and reconnected it and everything worked after that. Some of the wires must of got loosened at some point.

Ribbon cables are pretty much always supposed to be oriented so that pin 1 at one connector/end of the cable is connected to pin 1 at the other connector/end of the cable.

Pin 1 should be marked on the PCB with a number 1 or a dot next to the pin, a square solder pad on pin 1 versus all other solder pads on the connector pins being round, etc.

Pin 1 on the cable is usually marked with a red line down that edge/side of the ribbon cable, and sometimes a small arrow pointing to pin 1 that is moulded into the black plastic plug ends.

Always good to ensure you get it on right, so that all the pins go into all the holes, and so that pin 1 at one end is connected to pin 1 at the other end, otherwise it could damage circuits if not lined up and oriented correctly.
