Time stretch....???

What is the ultimate purpose for the time stretch feature. Can someone tell me what the presets effects a sound. I just can't hear any change in the sound with this. Plus, what's the purpose of the adjust and the ratio settings. Thank you in advance.

Well, it should stretch your samples. Say you have a little cymbal sound that is only half a second long, you can make it two seconds long without the pitch changing as it would if you just really slowed it down. If you cannot hear anything happening you might be applying very little to a sample that will not give much noticable difference anyway.

Try a long sample, like a one bar loop. Timestretch it to both the maximum & minimum percentages & that should give you a good idea of this feature's potential.

I've got a 2000 classic which doesn't do timestretching so I do it with computer software.

so what's the preset effects actually do. They have thing slike Female voice, Male voice, etc., but they all seem to have the same effect. What do they do?

mpc 's time strech's presets work great with the kind of sound corresponding to the name: male voice is good for a male voice and so on
on each preset, you've A/B/C after the name
in fact it's the grain quality of the operation
C 's the best quality, A is the lower
time strech is good to use when you've a loop with a different tempo compared to the song's one ;so you can transform the loop to the song tempo

be prepared to go for a long walk while its processing. u can jizz that shit on the compi in like 2 seconds flat and achieve similar results with higher quality files.

That's exactly what I needed to hear...I'm getting the 1000. One of the main reasons why I was hesitant to buy the 1000 is 'cause it lacked Timestretch. Since you're saying it takes awhile on the xl, fuq it, I might as well just get the 1k and use Timestretch on my pc as I'm already familiar with Acid 4 and Cool Edit.

in fact mpc2000xl is better to use with prepared sample; i mean with files sampled in a better machine, cause, it doesn't sample so well, and audio editing takes a long time; if you've a good sound card, make your samples with it, it'll be better
the only good function with mpc time strech is you can time strech a tuned sample; it consider the new tempo (the one you get if you pitch a sample)
