iMPC iPad app out now!

finally did a review... but nothing new in this review that most of you dont already know or havent already said.

The app is pretty dope, but it would be a lot better if it had pad mute offs or mute groups. Also if you were able to edit your samples after you chopped and truncated to make minor tweaks (unless I'm missing something). Hopefully they'll implement it in future updates. Gonna rock with this til I get my ren.

This thread made me realize why the MPC Fly hardware has been delayed. It will cut into the sales of the MPC Studio. I see why those within Akai circles are a bit apprensive about discussing it. Think about it, the Fly provides the same primary benefit (portability) as the Studio without having to depend on a laptop/desktop computer. It does rely on the Ipad, but the Ipad has major advantages in terms of extreme portability,battery life and stable operating system software. It will be like having a portable MPC with synth capabilities provided by heavyweights like Moog, Korg, Yamaha, Propellerhed and now Cubase.

Lets face it, iMPC already blows away a unit such as the MPC 500 in terms of portability,features and ease of use. The MPC Fly will provide even more of a tactical and tactile advantage.

Being ios, it does stuff that 500 can't do, that's a given yes. Most of that what's listed can be done on the 500 too, just done in different ways.

Midi and sequencer capability alone in the 500 is a huge thing.

@Lamp is on point as usual.

@coolderb I suggest you download the MPC500 manual and compare it to the 1 page manual of iMPC.

The iMPC might have non MPC features like WIST, SOUNDCLOUD, etc.. But the 500 has more MPC like features than iMPC. (as noted by Lamp)

Does the iMPC have the potential to kill the MPC 500 and STUDIO? Yes I agree. Right now, Stand alone it's missing key features to be a true killer. IMO
But, with the right apps running along side iMPC like (Cubasis, Auria), and a little iOS know how, an iPad is all you need to make some heat.

What Numark and other big name companys/Developers have to understand is that most iOS users want to do everything on their iOS devices. They don't want to have to envolve the desktop or laptop since almost everything CAN be done on the iPad.

I agree, but keep in mind that when used iMPC is used in Tabletop(free) additional features are added:

far as im concerned... my ipad is a literal sound module.... the mpc itself will always be the heart of my production. i been making ipad app beats and in the end im just stuck on the work flow of the mpc 1k. the mpc app aint too bad imo. in the end if they give us a virtual record player... then the chop is right there (old school) not saying it shouldnt be included but lol. we are all beta testers... on the real. beat maker 2 is hot tho. it got all that and then some. but thats what happens when an app company wants to make money . akai apparently is worried about losing profits on their new shit. nothing beats hardware... hell. it was 6 bucks... could have been a six pack or a pack of smokes but wtf ever. they probably will release an $$$ update or something to that effect. with whatever we mpc users are more familiar with lmao!!!! yeah right..... jj probably should hack this shit too.

clearly u havent used or learned a 500..i prefer my 500 over my 1000. impc is a joke right now. beatmaker2 is on par with a 1000..
