MPC output db

I record straight out of the MPC stereo out to my computer..

When i am programming my beats i set the output on the MPC on 0 DB (i monitor thry my mixer.

But when i am recording to my computer i found out the out put is to low (and i hate normalizing) so I set the output to 6 DB for recording and this works well for me!!

is it bad for the MPC? nad how many of you do it like this?

what about 12db will that be too loud or too hot of an signal.
