Music theory sub forum?

After reading the bliprock post of setting chords and and creating charts to help,I was wondering if there was enough interest in music theory on this site for a sub forum.I
know I would be excited about it.

This was originally posted to the JJOS forum(moved) in relation to the chord track I believe specific to JJOS.Not properly stated I can see the confusion.Whoops

Good point! But I doubt that most around here really care that much or even at all for that matter about key signatures, chord structures/progressions, circle of fifths or whatever.

I see that the majority prefer an all sampled compo over playing and structuring their own projects which only requires a decent ear.

That's just my observation.

I am interested. Been a while since I did some music theory studying. More knowledge, better beats.

dont see why there would be a need for one more forum as that could easily go under production techniques, which is pretty much the same as theory, only its being put to actual use and not just being theoretical (going on what that forum title actually means).. to create +1 more forum might get strange, people would probably get unsure what should be posted where, and then you'd have people getting butthurt and argue about it... you'd have to put up very very strict rules to divide it from what the production techniques forum already is and does.. so dont think there would be much of a real need for it... i'd say it would then be better to create section where you archive threads and stop users from posting and disrupting the order, except for one thread where people can drop suggestions and new info.. and simply collect and store information in locked threads to make it easy to find, view and search (which it will be when only one posts or edits threads and youd probably only need one single page for storage too making things even easier to search... then if people want to discuss that information, they might aswell do it in production techniques.. as it already is

yeah i looked around here, and had to look elsewhere to learn. I mean wiki is the bomb but it can be a bit over the top and information overload.
Yeah I use my chord bank a lot, and with this
its kicks butt. Means I can do transcribe of a key in seconds instead of minutes like it usually does. Only cos I have not got every scale and chord in my head like some do after years of music training. So tools like this and a bit of theory goes along way and allows you to do a lot more than if not.

This site is good at what it does, it is not the swiss-army-knife of music production forums, but still manages to accomodate a wide range of members interests within. Start a thread and see how it goes, if it takes off could become a sticky, if it bombs so be it.

Maybe I'll move this thread to where it should be...

Keep on moving threads for lower user information is always the way to go.
