Need to pick table for sampling.

i wanna get a turntable so i can sample from to the MPC 2000XL. i just want a cheap one, but ineed to know which is best out of my choices. i was lookin at the portable ones but i dont know if the quailty would lack, if it doesn't lack i'll jus cop one of those. here my choices, i just want to spend $100 to $130:

i know it's not in your price range but i recently picked up a numark ttx1 from guitar center for $299 price matched from baystereo.com and i gotta say, this thing kicks ass.

ive been sampling this spanish guitar record into my 1000 all day long...no hassles, good sound quality, nice flexibility

dont go for the portable.

its okay to go cheap, but get one of the cheap belt driven dj ones. By like numark.

Because youll want to be able to interchange nice needles.

i scored a cheap turnatble from my local electronics store. it has line outs. i'd assume the converters are schittt.

The Technics SL range is the best way to go! An SL1200 and 1210 is out of your range, off course. But if you look around you'll find an SL1300 or SL1400 very cheap, used. For 20 to 120 bucks or so. They are good. They dont have belts and the arms are just as steady as on an SL1200! You can hook up any needle to it. The only downpart is that the arm-up/down-function gets screwed quickly. But you dont need that for dj'ing, skratching and tracking.. A friend of mine has an SL1400 and it rocks! You can drill and skratch very fast with it.
Look it up on Google. Plenty of reviews on both models.

You'll want to look at something that you can fit a nice needle to.
I agree that a secondhand sl1400 with a decent needle will sound a lot better than than those portable things.

I see that stanton str-20 comes with a 500 cartridge included. They don't sound too bad and will last a long time.
I have the same carts on my Vestax decks but i only use those for dj-ing.

if you're not a Dj, don't care too much for the turntable
just choose a good quality one
dj's only work with technics mk2, but for sampling, it's a little shitty, cause it's not a real top hi fi turntable, but great for mixing;
so if you're just a musician, and of you've a decent turntable , don't look for more, you got what you need!
it 'll be better, if you 've a decent mixer, you'll be able to equalize before sampling

Along with the fact you need a good needle, avoid belt driven tables as much as you can. You'll find once you start using the TT to match sample speeds before sampling the belt TT's won't cut it

got the numark portable and shit is gravy... works great from the dig to the beat.

Pretty rugged .. and dirt cheap.

Do you have a turntable mixer? If you don't, you'll have to get a turntable with a built in pre-amp in order to sample straight into the MPC.

Go for the Stanton STR8-60 works good for sampling and does not cost a lot, you may even get a package deal with 2 turntables w/stylus, mixer and head phones all for less than $400............your choice cuz!

I can vouch for the Numark PT 01.

I just got it in the mail and this shit is rediculous. It weighs no more then a text book, its about as big as a record and the sound quality is perfection.
