Ok, New MPC 2000XL CHECK IT OUT

I just found out today that an akai service center here in Pasadena,ca is installing the multicard drives for $200.

actually its www.vstservice.com ... i wonder if it's an aftermarket multi card drive or the actual akai unit. also will they be giving the new os with it? hmmmmmmm

here's what i found out: vstservice.com in pasadena, ca uses an aftermarket multi card drive not the akai unit. and they use a modified os version 1.14C not akai's 1.2 ... whatever someone get 1.2 so we can save some loot already

Actually, VST is offering installation of the multi card drive, a 128 Mb compact flash card with 50 Mb of sounds, all cables and hardware, plus return shipping. Not just a drive afterall...

P.S. Where can I get a drive for $20?

where can't you get one for $20? as long as mpc users are dumb enough to fall for this nonsense then it will continue. i say we march on tokyo dec 12 to demand a version 8.0 os that includes free retrofitting of mpc60 mk1 converters and an ashtray, plus leather driving gloves

So it's a $20 cardreader plus a $20 card. I'd still rather do the installation and sampling myself, but maybe that's just me.

so is this multi card thing legit? does anyone own this yet? and willing to share there thoughts on it? one!
