MIDI Keyboards with built-in Soundcard, do they still exist?

Happy New Years All :-D

I'm looking for a midi controller with decent soundcard built-in. Can anyone recommend one? (I feel like there were more of these available a few years ago)

I'm gonna be working on an EP while travelling. I'm open to keys, pads, or both

I'm not sure what you really mean by "soundcard". I could recommend the roland a70 (which has 4 midi outs, one thru, and 2 ins). Plus it offers the option of installing sr-jv80 voice expansion cards so you can take advantage of the many different sound libraries that's available for it.

The CME boards a few years back had an option to add an audio interface but I can't recall any others really. Then there's boards like Dab mentioned that have expansion modules but are more keyboards that will double as a MIDI controller.

Roland Fantoms, M-Audio Venom and stuff like the Novation Xio/X-Station allow you to use them as an audio interface for your DAW too.

Thanks for response, that looks like a nice one. Do u own it?

I guess what I REALLY want is a small (preferably 49 keys) synth keyboard, with audio inputs, and the option to be the soundcard for my laptop. So I could record some percussion through it with a mic, for example.

Not sure if the Korg Krome does double duty as an interface, I know it has a plugin in editor over USB but interface, not sure. Maybe the Kronos series does.

The Novation Xiosynth 49 I think may have been discontinued but if you can find one it's the best deal for the money ($400 or less probably). 49 keys, built in synth, works as a 2 in 2 out interface, mic input/48v phantom power.

Yep, I do own that controller btw. But from what you're asking, it sounds like a retro sampling keyboard like an asr10 would probably fit your demands. Aside from it having 61 keys, everything else seems to fit your requirements.

asr10 can't be the soundcard for laptop (usb I'm guessing).
WOULD be awesome if there was a ASR2000 made with all the new fangled usb/firewire shit involved. Color touchscreen, optical adat, midi over usb, etc.
