I usually look for good(Soul,funk,jazz,pretty much anything) loops to chop up to single notes,so I can do what I want with the arrangements.

One thing I'm always on the look out for is hi hat loops.. I rarely use single hits. I just love the feel. The also organs are always cool to find. I of just anything that is playing by its self ill try to use

A smooth minimalistic loop with preferably 1 instrument that i can stack shit on top of. I like building around a loop cus its easier to make a beat that can work for 3-5 min with distinct hooks. I throw in a lot of other elements from other records so if cats happen to find my main loop they still dont have all the other parts that makes the song.

Samples like Dilla used in "Don't Cry". Of course not the exact one, but those slow, full of love type of samples. Gotta love those and can't manage to find them...
