does the mpc 2000xl support aiff files and if not what is a good converter to use to make it a wave that it will read

MPC's cannot read aiffs. You need to convert them to wav.

What computer do you have, as in Mac or PC? For either you can use iTunes although I would advise against this unless you use it purely as a sample converter & directory ......... because it is really annoying if you are using it to listen to music & you get all these individual kicks & snares playing between tracks. But it is free.

I've got a Mac & use AudioFinder for this particular format conversion. Most basic audio editors for either platform should do this conversion too.

They have a free version for download on this site that converts almost any format. I think it's both mac or pc..

jus in case you already got it on your machine... itunes will do the job.
