Program and cycle sounds Q - OSXL

I have 4 snare samples that sound a little different and i want to cycle between these four samples using one pad.

Do i have to assign the 4 samples to 4 pads in order to cycle between them or is there a way to cycle betwen the 4 samples without assigning them to 4 pads?

They need to be assigned to 4 pads. In my kits, I usually place a primary in bank A, and the other 3 or 4 cycles in a different bank (D usually).

so i can cycle sounds from bank D while pressing pad1 in bank A?

You can cycle any 4 pads from anywhere in the program. Give it a whirl, only takes a 3 seconds to set up

wirting from work, but will definitely give it "a whirl" when i get home

you can also set up velocity groups in a pad, where 0-100 will be a sample, 101-127 will be another sample, you can do it with it with 3 different samples per pad too. im pretty sure you push the window button like you were gonna layer a few sounds, then you can adjust the velocity of each sample assigned to the pad

there is also a pad cycle feature in jjos2xl.

I've read the akai manual and the latest manaul for for osxl, so i was just wondering if there was another way to cycle sound without assigning them to pads. thanks for the answers
