Live with the 2000xl & Known producers that use the MPC

-Has anyone seen someone use an MPC as a live instrument, and did they do it well? Like did they use it as if they were playing it like live drums?

Because i've seen someone use the sp 1200 pretty well and it was dope as a live act- can the 2000xl do the same or better?

-Also can ppl here please name some well known producers that use the MPC 2000xl for their main sequencing tool.

Trackmasters uses a 3000 and a 2000xl at various times, thats why in pics the mpc keeps changing.

wow, who did you see who used an sp1200 live? Im interested... The only person Ive seen use one in a show was Jel and he basically just played the beat. It was dope none the less...

Shadow and Prefuse are the only people I know of who use the mpc live. Shadow is amazing with it. He incorporated the turntables and the mpc into a live show, the live version of "What does your soul look like" was simply amazing. Although Im still not sure how he did it, it was before I had my xl. Download the live version of "Organ Donor" and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah with some rythm and a bit of practice the mpc can be a great addition to a live show. (Im still practicing)

I've seen Jel play the MPC live with Clouddead and also Themselves. Nu-Mark plays one with Jurassic5 too. I'm actually using the MPC as a live instrument as well. I'm basically just using it to knock out beats with a keyboard player and guitarist.

Also, there is a special version of DJ Shadow's latest album which contains 2 CD's. The second CD is a live show called "Pushin Buttons", which is Shadow, CutChemist, and NuMark all playing MPC's live. Check it.

I saw a video of the Chemical Brothers plaing live, and they had an XL that they played live. Of course, they bring out half their studio, so it's no surprise.
But I am not sure how live it is, they hit the pads and shit, but I've heard that they sequence everything, or even use DATs.

actually the neptunes use an ASR-10, they dont really sample all that much.

Primo uses a 60
Dre uses a 3000

I saw the Chemical Brothers about 7 years ago in Orlando and all they used were an MPC3000, Juno-106 and several guitar pedals. There were only about 250 people since this was long before their rise in popularity. Popularity seems to bring out the worst in live acts as you can tell in later appearances.

I can name a few dozen electronica acts that use MPC's. Many of them use my MPC's when touring here since the local promotor scrounges up gear for the show for them:

The MPC is flexible enough to make it suitable for all types of music. I written in just about every genre on that machine without problem. Any music can be sequenced and the MPC conforms to what is needed in a sequencer, therefore, any music can be sequenced on the MPC.
