Yes it is. And you are correct, i usually record the stereo out of the mixer to the tape machine. On rare occasions i record every single track to tape but usually i'm too lazy...

My bathroom is right next to the room in the pictures, i could use it as a vocal booth maybe...

it's a Soundtracs Topaz (good british EQ's), sounds so much better than my previous board

Ideally i'd like go better at some point with a well configured AMEK or similar/better
