Nice, can't hardly wait :-)

Just finished the Akai manual and the "manual" for jjso, but the jjosxl interface is completely different, so a guide for jjosxl is definitely needed for newbies like me :-)

Just remember, this book is specifically only for chopping, it's not going to be a 'complete' guide to JJOSXL, so it just teaches you the stuff you need for successful chopping practices - it's mainly centered around the various CHOP screens and all the PROGRAM screens. So it's not for example, going to cover any advanced sequencing techniques (I will cover this in a different dedicated book) - but there are a couple of bits that require basic use of the sequencer, so I cover what you need to know about the sequencer to get that bit of the tutorial done.

Actual topics covered include:

- 'destructive' Chopping of both drums and instrument samples
- Non destructive chopping - drums, instrument loops and chopping entire songs
- NDC chopping songs in odd time signatures
- creating your own songs using nothing but NDC
- example chopping workflows and methods
- advanced pad previewing options
- speed chopping techniques
- utilizing PgmMode
- essential shortcuts and tricks
- chop program effects and parameter editing
- utilising sample edit
- correct use of mono and poly playback and creative workarounds
- Chopping down to smaller phrases and to individual hits
- Building chopped finger drumming drum kits (both destructively and NDC)
- Looping instrument chops using XFADE and ALTER
- Looping individual drum chops for special effects
- Patched Phrase
- working with PAC programs

Plus other stuff :) It does expect some basic existing knowledge of using 'an MPC', so you should at least understand the general concepts, but I still give step-by-steps on anything that needs doing in those respects. But this is really a complete A-Z about chopping, I've tried to cover everything I could think of chopping related.

This is quite thorough. Although I feel you should add the feature Len/End to highlight the flexibility of scrolling the loop in real time(unless I missed it)Peace

The JJOSXL chopping book is (finally) now live – I’ve spent the past few weeks adding a lot more written content - it’s 125 pages covering pretty much everything about chopping workflow & techniques. I decided to call it the ‘JJOSXL Chopping Bible’ :)
