not sure what this does, but you shouldn't need this just to use a midi pedal to trigger kicks? ..a few years back i hooked up two old midi pedals to my 4k to check if it was possible to use as a simple kick pedal, and it worked.

it can do sysex so you should be able to use it to start a daw sequencer.
