Sup Bosses

Okay, I'm having a hard time trying to control Reason 5 with my MPC 500. I'm using it with Kong or rather attempting to. I'm trying to use it was the Midi master

So everything was going well .
I'm nearly there. I can use my Data wheel to change the tempo and stuff but when i hit the pads no sound comes out... Also i can start and stop reason from my MPC but when i hit the pads they give no response ..

Please help !

Make sure the Program in the MPC is set to send MIDI out and have the pad assignments go from MIDI note # 36 to MIDI note # 51 to match Kong's pads.

Reason/Preferences/Control Surfaces. Choose Add/<Other>/MIDI Control Keyboard/Assign Name in <Other> MIDI Control Keyboard field/Press "Find", touch a pad on the MPC Reason should recognize the MPC MIDI input. (If you haven't set up control surface yet.

Hey when i trying to set up my control surface the same thing happens. When i press a pad .. no response.. But when i press the play button it recognises and i press play.

I have the MPC set at
Recieve Channel 1
Soft Thru ON
Pad to sampler OFF
Sync MASTER

Defeault assign
A2:C1 (36)*

I'm not sure what that last part means BTW i'm new to the mpc if that wasn't clear.

In reason I'm using DX sound driver and not ASIO. Does that affect anything?

Thanks

Do you have Track Type set to MIDI? The MMC is being sent obviously (transport works) but you have to toggle the program to send MIDI from the pads I think even with pad to sampler already disabled. (If I'm looking at the 500's setup right, I have 1000 and 2500).

A DX sound driver is not up to the task of low latency operation. You will experience a massive delay from the time you press a pad or key until the computer plays the triggered sound.

If you have an audio interface choose it's ASIO driver, if you don't have an interface go get this install it and choose "ASIO4All" as your sound driver in Reason. (It's am emulated ASIO driver, probably your only hop fro usable low latency if you have no separate audio interface.
