Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

I'm having problems tracking out individual tracks on my MPC 2500 into my DAW, I understand the possibility of getting a multitrack firewire mixer that could record each individual track simultaneously, but for the moment I don't have that option. What I'm wondering is if anyone has tried saving their MPC 2500 project, and then opened it up on their computer using the new MPC software (comes with Renaissance & Studio). And if so does this method allow you to further mix your tracks, and save them as individual wavs? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

One issue is tracking out individual tracks at a time is somewhat tedious, the other is that it compromises the master swing in the MPC. I've also heard stories of quality loss due to the sound going through different converters.

Tracking out individual tracks should be your only real issue. I've said in other posts that no one is gonna hear your track and say "oh man dude used his onboard A/D". There would only be a somewhat audible quality loss if you don't record the tracks at full volume, because you wouldn't be using the maximum bit depth, so you could only be using 20 bits instead of 24etc..

I've only used legacy machines where I have to track to something to get the audio data, but I know users of the 1000/2500 seem to use a feature that allows you to resample an entire track or song into .wav (bypassing any converters) then you can transfer the individual tracks to you computer via Usb. But that might with JJOS, any nukai users please chime in.

As far as syncing goes, just put a snare drum on the intro of each track and sync it up in your daw. Or use the count in.

Thanks! that's good to know about the AD converter issue. I've got the free JJOS which allows me to sample the outputs so I did that for one of my earlier beats and I guess it worked out for the most part, I just had the lining up issue but it sounds like that's something I'm just gonna have to suck up. I'm just curious if anyone has thought of or tried tracking out via the MPC software. I'm sure there are some renaissance/studio users who also have hardware mpc's...maybe? I know you can download the software from the akai site, and then you just need to hook in one of the new line of mpc's to activate it. Just thinking that could be a real time saver.

I'm not looking to get into an argument but I'm not asking if it is worth buying an entire mpc/software bundle to simply export your beat (although I could argue it could be cheaper than buying a protools interface with at least 8 inputs). I'm asking if this software is capable of opening a 2500 project file, with the separate tracks still in tact, and then saving the file with the split tracks. "m56p87" I appreciate your help so far but I'm assuming you don't have or have used the MPC software so I understand if you can't answer my question.

Akai claims that Ren is compatible with mpc files. Question you should be asking in Ren forum if this feature really works as advertised. another potential problem I see is you're not using official akai OS . And if you think tracking out individual tracks is tedious which is only available on Jjos try tracking out individual pads with stock akai OS. If you looking for cheap and capable DAW check out Reaper for $70 you get whole a lot more than with mpc software. Used digi 002 rack can be had for as low as 2 bills these days

You would assume wrong, I've downloaded the demo for the exact purpose your after. I've been making posts since the ren came out that the software should be made available via stand alone for ren users/legacy mpc users. So you couldn't be more wrong about my experience and position on the subject.

And with that, I have found its not yet a viable option. Don't be snarky because I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. There's much cheaper and efficient options to tracking/exporting your beats. I could never advocate buying an entire piece of hardware/software just for one easy task that could be completed a number of different/better ways.

But it's your wallet, your headache.

A lot of people want this, 'aint gonna happen (officially at least), but I see it happening somewhere down the line at which point the Ren / Studio sales take a dive...

"Bottom line there is no reason to buy an entire mpc/software bundle simply just to export your beats."

Why not? Tracking out beats is a function that many people spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on. Personally, I think this is a great reason to buy the $499 Studio..every other function the Ren/Studio can be done can be accomplished on any MPC with a computer connected except exporting legacy MPC programs/seq's as individual .WAV files.
But back to Northvillah's question, since an audio interface isn't an option, just wait a few months for the software to get cracked. I'm not trying to advocate bootleg software, but its going to happen! Since you want to record multiple tracks and you already own a DAW, there is no other "faster" option besides buying a used audio interface and taking the time to learn how to use them properly. Got questions? Youtube or google is your friend! :-D

Extremely flawed argument, first off your right you can pay tons of money for different technology allowing you to record or export your beats. But the average user wouldn't do that, just like the average user shouldn't buy an entire mpc simply to export beats. I can't believe I'm even having to explain this. By your logic you woulda advise someone to buy a whole nother car to pull their original broken car around town instead of simply fixing the original car, because someone out there will pay 250K for a Ferrari...

But any ren/studio owners that bought their new mpc simply to accommodate their older mpc's please chime in...

wouldn't it be easier simply to get jjos to enable the mixdown to wav then export to pc, slower but you have more degree of control. Am I correct in this statement/.

Nope def does it, it was how I used to export my beats. One issue was I had to normalize it on occassions because it was too quiet. This could gave changed since I was using an old version.
