Installing PT LE plug ins

a friend gave me a few plug ins that he had installed that I could use for my PT LE w/mbox....I am running WinXP and when I put them in, the file types aren't recorgized and therefore I cant use them....any reason for this?...is there a specific way to install plug ins.....he is using a mac but also has a PC in which he uses PT LE w/Digi001....why won't they work for me?....thanks

The are probably Mac files that your PC can't read.

hmmm...then i wonder how he got them to his PC....guess I'll ask him next time I see or talk to him....thanks though...if anyone else knows, lemme know....if not I got free PT plug ins for a mac I guess....anyone interested? ahhahah

You have to put the plugs in your pro-tools plug ins folder with all the
other plug ins

it doesnt add them in like you can with Nuendo

so should i even bother trying to put them in there?......Can i go about this in any other manner....according to him, I just have to double click on the plug in...but since the file type is not known, I can't...

just dumped em in.....doesn't work.....maybe Cuz they are in folders....should this/would this matter??

is there a certain file extension( i saw .dpm on the stock plug ins), but these don't show any extensions....please let me know...this is bugging me..thanks

There is a possibility if the files arent being recognized they may be of
another format BUT try this first open the plug folder and check to
see if the files are compatible by right clicking on the file and check
the properties of those files if everything is everything you drag and
drop the plugs into your protools plug ins folder with all the rest of
your plug ins and they will work.


Remember the individual plug in not the plug in folder
take the individual plug in FILE and put it with the rest
of the plug in files in your pro-tools plug in folder.

tried everything....it wont show me the file extension....i tried to put it on the folder and it goes, just doesn't come up as a plug in.....damn, a waste of a bunch of good plug ins, my mystery is that he said it works for his PC w/PT LE so...

Just open the folder and drag and drop the plugs inside with all the other
plugins if they are for pc they should work.

i did it every which way possible.....he used the sames one for PC and MAC and I can't use it for PC....I do notice that the PC ones I already Had were .dpm files and these didn't have any file extensions...I'm just gonna give up on this for now

Gimme ya version of Pro Tools and version and type of plugins you want to install.
Tho if you cant open the files with Windows installer, dont bother, either they are corrupted or for Mac OS. If you can install them in Windows XP and Pro Tools wont recognize them, the plugins are made for Windows 98 and Pro Tools 5.
Give us some inside and details, dude.

What does the text file says, wich is included with the plugins? Wich files do you see in the map from the installer? Whats on the box of the cd-rom case? Etc etc..
