MPC 4000 basic beginner video

Hi All,
I wanted to add to the MPC lexicon, so I created a basic tutorial video intended for the novice or first time MPC 4000 user. I just wanted to explain the basic idea of how the machine can be used and how tracks relate to the sequences.



Before I purchased this machine I was searching for a video like this. Let me know if I should have added more info. I wanted to be concise. If you guys can think of more things to add I will make that video also. This is my first MPC so just didn't know how to relate to it for a while. Then I purchased a video and it was a bit clearer. However I think this video is a good explanation of how to use it and how it will benefit you(for the novice) ...because if you don't know how to put each instrument on its own track you may have more work for you in the end.
I hope to make a video next about the synthesizer inside of it. Thanks to Coz and E5 or was it E2....you guys helped me on a basic thing with this.

Just to add to what you mentioned in the video...

With the sequence stopped, the quickest way to erase individual pads is to press Erase and select what you want to get rid of.




A nice alternative to Step Edit (for most things) is to use Sequence Edit. It's personal preference, but I gravitate more to a visual grid than a long list of midi information for deep editing.

Coz you just taught me some things. I never knew about the erase button screen, and I never took the time to properly use the sequence edit screen. I went in there but did not toggle enough items. Now I see how much easier it is compared to the step edit. The step edit is similar to how it is in a roland fantom.
These are the kinds of things people need to see. Now I want to make a part two video. What I really need to learn is how to do a split screen with my video software. So that people can see the button presses as well.
Having videos and pics is definitely easier than reading the manual. Though the manual isn't too bad, compared to my roland manuals.

I imagine the 4000 is a tricky beast if you're new to MPCs, but I came to it with a lot of previous experience, so it was pretty straightforward.

Every time I dip into the manual I find it really uninformative though, so I've basically sussed out the entire machine by getting my hands dirty. I just need to fill in a few gaps in understanding and I'll be well on my way to mastering it.

Some advanced videos from the seasoned pro's around here would be nice.
