Ok so I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the Minitaur with my tax return, although I want to be able to record it from my axiom 49 seamlessly into the mpc2000xl. I know I can just record it into protools after tracking out my mp, but I would really like to record everything into the mp first. will this work? Can I record into the mp and have playback? and How do I connect and configure everything? I hate manuals. Thanks.

I really wouldn't record the minitaur into the 2KXL... you'll lose so much bass / low end...

You could sample some notes from the MINITAUR into the MPC and create a program.

You could go MPC midi out to MINITAUR midi in and track the audio from both into Pro Tools.

You could experiment and find that jibbers advice was valid, either way using a mixer in your setup will give you more flexibility routing your hardware synths.

And don't forget the refer to your manuals which usually have set-up guides and info on using the correct midi settings.

cool thanks guys. everything you guys have said is helpful. I have to do some serious thought too if I even want the Minitaur anymore. Idk what about a microkorg? would I lose any low end if i recorded directly into the mp? Also is it even possible with playback?

I wouldn't worry about losing low end when sampling, plenty have used the MPC for basslines in the past and always will. Get whichever synth you want, and work with it.

Basically true, but the 2KXL isn't exactly famous for its sound (it sounds a bit thin compared to other samplers)... so if you have a moog minitaur with such great low end, it would be a waste to sample it into the 2KXL as long as you can sync it via midi and record it directly into your DAW.

Just my personal opinion...

u know you're right when I sample a bass heavy kik it doesn't sound as nearly as heavy compared to when I listen to the record separate. Also I'm going to have to just record into pt9 if i want to play along with the mp. thanks anyways guys.
