The art of the chop?

i'm very new to producing i can make good loops and stuff. i think i get the idea of chopping but i'm not entirely sure. whats its avantages to looping?

Looping plays samples repetitively over and over again.

Chopping cuts your sample into useful peices
to be banged out on the pads/keys whatever you use.

in other words it's breaks up the repetitiveness,

ok. i dont think i could do that successfully..

Just start by splitting the loop in two, and then split both of those into two. Now you have the loop chopped to four pieces, just play them back in any order that you wish.

search for a tutorial by DECEPTICON 3010 think it was, but he has a really good tut that shows you how to chop ,it worked for me know i chopp everything i sample now

looping is alright if you want to stick to a strict tempo, but when u get into a session with someone wlese and they tempo is fluctuating your loops will fall on there ass. you can even chop your loops to still play back in order, but they will play to tempo and stay in sync.

loops should b chopped in to pieces and then bring in the loop with the chopped up pieces and then try to recreat it...get carried away

its like herb....if u dont chop it up then u cant really use it too many different forms, but some people require this consistency and or ruggedness (of a straught loop)
