mate of mine is a MPC60 owner, and he's also a carpenter....

can you guess where this is going? :smoker:

I'm trying to encourage him to make MPC60 wood side panels - so thought I'd get people's feedback on what type of panels they've already seen (and liked)??

Anyone got a preference on a type of wood etc etc?

I personally like ones that look like the original sides

and am slightly less keen on these - although they are very cool.

anyone got any on theirs already that they gonna show off?

Some opinions and ideas in my recent thread. I've only got as far as making a template. I also like the side panel that are routed to look like the original part, but have nightmares about holding the machine by the sides and the wood splits...

Also routing neatly is best done by a skilled carpenter, such as your mate, so when I get around to doing mine they will be flush.

Yes, I can imagine the original shape version would be very difficult to make look nice; since it has to be routed, scooped, chiseled, shaved, sanded in tight areas and prone to breaking since its relatively thin.
