Damn P Piper, that is an awesome set up.. I would love to get some of those Ikea shelves, but the shipping on them is more than the cost of the shelves. I'll deffinately keep my eyes open for them though.

I couldnt really imagine NOT digging. Not to say that i havent reinforcd a few kicks with an 808. but for the most part my eyes are always on the crates. its the first thing i see when i walk into peoples houses.

Also, Ikea expedit shelves are a godsend. looks classy and holds a shitload of records. also i have a 2 x 4 that holds a 2 turntables, speakers and a mixer.

I was all about cassettes up until 2004. I used to play, record and sample them. I prefer Hip Hop albums on cassettes than CDs because the bass is more raw and thumping, but a rapper's words can sound muffled to a point you think he's saying gibberish words. But on CD I can hear the words clearly. Anyway, I stopped my cassette movement when I found myself constantly fixing them when they broke or get eaten by the machine that I have to gently pull out the tape to rewind them. It was tedious and plus after time, cassettes will age and sound heavily muffled so most of my early work from the 80s and 90s sound like it went through a LPF or nothing at all which sadden me. Zeros and ones all day for me now, but thats when I'm producing a beat and/or recording. Vinyl, CD, cassettes (preserved well) DVDs and wave files is all that I use.

for sure though, before I ever thought about making music I used to just string sounds I liked with a double cassette deck... it didn't sound good or anything, but at the same time I wasn't trying to make a song or anything... I was simply just messing with tapes.

I dont do much cassette stuff today and haven't in years... however occasionally I will. I had a late 90's bonneville that had a cassette deck in it so that was pretty much the last time I scooped up piles of cassettes.

no where to dig in perth, a few spots but u can't hear the shit before hand so **** it

i listen most of my music on my macbook pro & all the other shit in my car all comes from here too

so i'll just get it from the same place & at least i can chop on fusion & throw it straight into ableton

Dont even worry. I have them full of records. as many as it can hold. it wont break.

As long as you build it correctly ( i.e with the long boards running horizontally, and the short dividers running vertically that is) the expedits are just fine filled with lp's.
