THe mono is connected straignt into audio in on the 4k.

when playing the sequence, the out meter in main lights up, but the in meter does not show any activity.

when pressing the pads the in meter lights up, put I then also need to press record to hear the monomachine being played by the pads.

please help!

thanks!

The outs of the synth should be plugged into a mixer of some sort. Plugging them into the MPC will not produce sound unless you are sampling into the MPC. If you don't have a mixer or daw of some sort, you CAN plug into the "record in" of the MPC and sample your synth. You'd then have to assign it to a pad and program it as usual.

Yep I do it all the time with my guitar plugged in so I can jam around with drums and stuff I've got sequenced.

The difficulty is that it doesn't quite work like the Input Thru feature on the 2500 which continually pipes the input through to the machine's outputs no matter what screen you're in or what you do by way of editing and playing around with sequences.

The 4k will only work like this when you start a sequence playing first then go to the record screen and set up as if you were going to take a sample (but don't). It's ok for what I do with it, but you should really use a mixer like others have said.
