MY ROLAND SI 24 PRO WILL NOT RECORD THE MIDI DATA FROM MY MPC 2000XL. I RUN LOGIC RPC AS THE RECORDING SOFTWARE AND IT WILL RECORD THE AUDIO AND WHEN EVER I ASSIGN A MIDI CHANNEL FOR RECORDING FROM MY MPC 2000XL CORRESPONDING CHANNEL, THERE IS NO RECORDING ONLY AUDIO. IS THIS MODE OF OPERATION POSSIBLE? IS THERE SOME ONE WHO HAS THE MIXER AND THE MPC 2000XL RECORDING AND PLAYING BACK THE MIDI DATA?

Do you have any midi cables in this setup? You never said so and I don't wanna assume you don't.

Audio cables do not carry midi and midi cables do not carry audio.

yes, the midi cable are connected and the mpc operates as the master. the audio is received on the mixer. i can record the audio but i can't control the midi message that is been recieved by the mixer for more editing. (midi in goes to out on transmit and opposite on recieve). what i really would like to do is record midi data and audio signal at the same time, then syn and edit the midi data along with the audio signal. is this kind of operation possible in a mix down?

Read your post again... the MIDI code that is recordered into the MPC, has to play it back to where ever u assign it too this is obvious.
So i'm assuming your pluging your MIDI signal to the Mixer so you can fiddle.

I'm sure it possible but I think that you will only be able to edit the midi settings levels, instruments etc and not if u wanted to change the actual level of a sample...but then that might be possible to..anyway...the MPC would need to configured to recieve MIDI data as well as give out...AGH I know what you on about but I cant explain it....

Read the manual

I might be getting confused in what exactly your trying to do... cause it should already play back and recieve, you can even choose what channel you want to recieve changes on, for example if u change program number on a module or keyboard the MPC will change too.

read the manual

and could u explain in detail what u you are trying to do cause I keep thinking u want to control the volume levels through MIDI on ya mixer.

OK I UNDERSTAND U NOW,!!! NO NEED TO SHOUT!
NAH I just looked at what a ROLAND SI 24 is, you can run MPC as a slave and have the Roland as Master but editing midi data can onyl happen on the MPC.

do u know of a mixer that is fully compatible with the mpc 2000xl? this mixer should allow controlling and editing of midi data on the mixer.

bruv....

Let me ask you a question.... what part of the Midi data do u want to edit? or control?

The only thing I can see that making sense is having the abilty to control the volume from the mixer without having to go the MPC and Sound Module all the time.
