MPC 4000 with MPD 24 - sound cutting out

Hi guys.

Me and a friend are working on a team routine for some upcoming beat battles. I hooked up my MPD24 to my MPC4000 through MIDI and it all works fine except for one really annoying glitch. Every once in a while sound will stop playing out of the left speaker (and its always the left speaker, not the right), until the sequence is changed (once it switches to a new sequence the sound kicks back in).

I tried a few things:
- This happens when the MPD is powered by a 9V adapter.
- This happens when the MPD is powered by USB
- This happens LESS when I ducktape the power suply so that its tight and doesn't wiggle when hitting the pads (but it still happens...)
- This doesn't happen at all when I use my MPC 2000xl as a midi controller instead of the MPD.

Could this be a hardware flaw? Or does it sound like something some firmware upgrade and such might fix? I think I updated my MPD firmware, but I might have over-looked something, so any suggestions would be helpful.

Welcome to the forums.

From what you have posted, it seems you have isolated the source of the problem to your MPD24 controller. You might find some relevant info in the MP/LP forum. viewforum.php?f=37. I may have to move this thread there too as the issue is not your MPC4000, we'll see how it goes.

I think i figured it out. The vibration from the pads was triggering the knob controls and causing them to pan left and sometimes decrease the master volume.

I created a new pre-set for the MPD and set all of the knob controls to a control that doesn't do anything. So far so good... i think.
