I have had excellent latency with Komplete Audio 6. 32 sample buffer @ 44.1khz, no pops or clicks on a modest laptop.

I use the Studio with the on board soundcard of the mac book pro.(really just the mac and the studio) no latency ,done full tracks with vsts (komplete 8 )Done alot of professional sessions and no issues.the tightness rivals my stand alone mpcs! real talk! ....and 1.3 is going to be even tighter? damn!

I look for the most inputs and lowest latency drivers when choosing an audio interface. This Focusrite unit is probably the best for the price in those 2 areas.

This is a really good choice, converters are good and there are some goodie VST fx shipped with.

Yes I think it's real good value for the money and rock solid performance. I seen 002 consoles in $350 - 450 range

All of them? Because I want to get a new laptop for my MPC Studio and was hoping to get the cheapest Macbook Pro they have (I think they sell for new $999 on ebay from time to time.) I also was thinking of getting the macbook air. Are there latency issues with the macbook air?

I'm not sure about air. I know pro has got positive reviews in that aspect. Ultimately you'll want to invest in entry level interface for optimal performance

After taking another look at the macbook prices, I will be trying to hunt down a used audio interface. Do the firewire ones have less latency the USB ones?

well let me ask u this,do u do music seriously?are u always on the go ?if so save up get u a good used quad core i7 macbook pro or a comparable laptop pc.at lease with the mac u know ur going to get the latency performance your looking for.( with a good pc too) I like being able to just plug up my Studio to the mac and work ,no extra power cords no extra audio devices just the macbook and the Studio.

yes firewire has lower latency but a few of the most recent usb2 cards work great too.(RME to name one)

IMO there is no reason not to get FireWire interface. It's faster n doesn't strain CPU as much as USB

has any companies put out usb3 ones yet? I haven't been in the loop for that stuff... I wonder how those are working.

I think usb2 is not bad, but if you have a firewire port, you probably wont be using that for anything else.... might as well use it for the interface... while usb, everything is usb these days.

I am currently giving the RPM3's a shot as they double as both monitors and an audio interface. I'm hoping that this will improve my latency a bit if possible. But obviously this is temporary as I plan to invest in either a Focusrite or EIE Pro once I get around to it.

Any reviews on either models? Will they do the job for me? The Scarlett was my choice of interface in Focusrite models.

I am running all of this currently off my Acer Aspire 13' notebook and I have adjusted my latency settings in my MPC software to a point where everything is still very usable. But I'm using a 960 (20 ms.) audio buffer size at 48000 Hz. For some reason not quite that bad but still noticeable at times. Any other combination and things get very choppy.

I just dont know how well you can get the latency down with that built in audio card... try again when you get the rpm speakers.

Also, read the link someone posted about the EIE pro sound card before buying it.

I installed the MPC software on my PC (win7 64 bit, 970 i7) last night and at best I can get 20ms latency with buid in audio. So, as advised by you guys, I went to Best Buy and got an open-box PowerBook Pro (13 retina) and installed the MPC software and am getting zero dropouts with a 0ms latency setting. WOW!!!

Once I actually tax the system and do some serious work I probably will need to increase this. But a base line of 0ms beats 20ms any day.

Now I just need to justify the new laptop purchase to my wife...
