what's up with the new OS....

Thought we were to expect a Beta by the end of october.... no way to get any hint from akai...

Word is a release in mid-Dec Akai completing beta testing themselves. Should be sweet.

Not that this probably has anything to do with it, but remember that Akai Instruments in
Japan just got bought up by Numark/Alesis, so that's just added stress to the infrastructure
so can cause little delays here and there as well.


Also, remember, we'd all (at least I would) would rather Akai take their time , and
create and test the OS that's fairly stable and needs some Real World testing
rather then giveing us one that crashes, so that they can keep the time frame.


I do software Beta testing at work, so have no problems backing up my work and
trying a new OS, but before I got my MPC 4000 (i recieved it the day that 1.60 came out)
I was on this board and saw many many many many posts about how horrible the Beta update was, why is akai releasing something that is crashing, why is Akai releaseing
something that is VERY slow (had redraw issues), and many people not happy
with it being basiclly Beta Software. That's what can happen if you run Beta Software.
You might crash, you might lose your data. That's the risk that you take when you run Beta, and if you think about it, you'd rather have it crashing now, then when it's official.

word, i agree, but still feeling like a kid that can't wait to open his presents at christmas.... there's so many little features I wish I had right here right now, that i'm being a little impatient... still I went through the past beta testing stage and can deal with more waiting.. it took nearly two years to get the OS stable.... One thing I do hope is that they get a manual that's up to date with the new OS... fingers crossed...
