Definitely look for a 8800 with the color screen and VGA & mouse output. I got lucky with my 8000 that had the VGA & mouse card already installed which is rare now.

yeah im def only looking at one with a vga card, not gonna happen for awhile though.

The 8-outs would be nice to have also.
Strangely enough, using the VGA & Mouse card opens up more MV options than just using the front panel screen.

yeah i would ideally want the 8 outputs, even just to sell it later; but that shit usually costs too much, im looking at spending 450 tops on it next year if i get one.

Dude... They need to make a mv-mini!!!!!!! Battery powered vga,mouse port,usb, software too,. Do it like bke tried to do....I think it would work and be a good option.. just my 2 cents.

what was the 4 pin molex you cut off connected to? the hard drive? or was that what the fan came with and you needed it to connect to a small 2 pin connector?

I wonder if roland will ever bring anything else out The Mv has such great idea's, it just needs to updated. Pack a mv in the size of a 1000 or mp studio, i'm sold!!!

Unfortunately it didn't sell well at all. That's why you can steal them off of ebay for a few packs of squares. Hopefully Roland will have another golden age in the next few years. I predict a strong return to hardware as technology advances. We just need to tough it out through the PC age. I just mean that most people would rather have a stand alone unit and technology will allow that soon.

a mini mv would be the shit... i was really stoked when bke first said they were gonna make a portable sampler that also controlled software and was a midi controller too.. then they showed the pics and said what the name was gonna be and then came Aja with all his lies, and a shitty software that was the bt virtual... i think the idea was a good one.... a stand alone, portable, sampler with its own computer software too.. like if NI came out with a standalone maschine that has its own os but could also be a controller for the software.. i mean, some times u just wanna pull out ur device and make beats without being all bound to ur computer.. i mean, how "portable" is it really when u gotta pull out ur laptop and have a wire plugged from it to ur controller? u cant just stand up with headphones on and move around like i do with my 500,. no, u got two devices that are awkward sizes together to **** around trying to carry around, its ghey as shit.. it shouldnt be this hard. with windows 8 on a tablet now u could just have a windows 8 running maschine with all the tablet parts inside of the controller and BAM!! its too bad BKE had to come sooooo wack, but maybe someone will build and succeed where they failed

The Molex connectors that I cut off were to the the new Silenx Effizio fan. They are still usable even though i cut them off so I keep them in my computer parts bag in case i need them later.

Thanks bro. The video looks great on my Mac but when i upload to youtube the captions are all distorted along with the video is extremely dark. And for some reason the same youtube video won't play on a smart phone.
I'll mess with the video tonight and get it sorted.

Got it sorted now so you can read it better. The video quality looks like shit due to video compression for Youtube and I still can't get it to play on smart phones. I'm going to mess around with uploading a .mov movie instead of a .m4v movie and see if that has any better quality. But at least now the info is there for the mod.

What are the effects like on the mv8800?

Coming from a mpc background how difficult would it be to adapt to a mv?

Plus worried about the fan and overheating, how common is this?

effects are good... okay obviously some new vst pluggin effects are better but the mv ones are pretty good.

adapting to the MV is doable. It takes a bit of time... the mv is not an mpc, it has very little in common with mpcs other than the fact it has pads... and it is used to make music. It has a lot of features and it's own way of doing things which may seem odd at first.

fan overheating? meh, the fan is for venting air out of the power supply chamber. It isn't for a cpu or anything like that.... overheating is a non issue in my experience....


check some stuff on youtube though to really decide.
