There were also suggestions that you could simply use aksys with a touchscreen monitor, but I don't know if that worked out.

Geoff put up a few videos on YouTube back when he first hooked up the touchscreen via Logic.

touch screen with ak.sys works

I bought a salvage touchscreen (ELO brand?) less than 100 on ebay

I think the little 9" usb touchscreens you can buy cheaply, may work also, but I have no way to test this out

I'm just starting to get into aksys. Had no idea you can access keygroups and the mixer for Mulits.

I do have a question about the mixer section. I see there is a mixer view for multis, but I don't see the same for programs. Is there a way to see the pad mixer window where you can change the volume of the different parts of program via aksys.

In other words, is there a way to change the volume of a kick or snare in a program from a view somewhere in aksys?

Dude, read the Ak.Sys User Guide.

It was written by Steve Howell (HollowSun), it's very lucid, it explains stuff a helluva lot better than the bland machine-translated-from-Japanese prose of the other MPC4000 docs. You'll learn a lot.

(And yes, there is a pad mixer in Ak.Sys. But I'm not going to tell you were it is. RTFM  )

Is ths the same one that was written by Steve Howell? This is the same one I found on Akai's support website.

I also can't find any mention of the Pad Editor in this one.

Can you tell me where that PDF can be found? Also, where would the pad mixer be? I couldn't find that either in the release of the manual you pointed me to.

Appreciate the help!

This is the pad editor...hollow sun article...

http://www.hollowsun.com/gagnon/mpc4k/mpc4k_aksys.html

I was initially excited about aksys, only because I did not know what to expect. Now I never use it. The 4000 is so easy to navigate and work with so I find it unnecessary...except for organizing your samples.

Sorry I did not send this sooner.
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks Ian. I found the Pad Editor, but I was actually looking for the Pad Mixer that feline1 referred to in the previous post. Apparently there is a pad mixer similar to the mix view for Multis. I was looking for a way to adjust volume on different pads just like with the pad mixer window on the MPC.

Is that in the Pad Editor somewhere?
