MPC4000 SSD installed issues

Not at all. The lack of spinning noise is bliss. And the load time is a bit faster.
I still haven't figured out why mine sometimes doesn't get detected at power on, but that only lasts about 30 seconds - whereas HDD noise and slowness are permanent

Adapter was the issue. I got an email back from a HDE supplier that said the newer version does not have jumpers, but empty spaces to solder one in if needed...

However, I got a kingswin adapter installed today and it's working perfectly. Comes with the jumper installed and in the right place.

glad you got it sorted. so far we've learned two things regarding the ssd installation:

thing 1: gotta remove cd drive from chain
thing 2: gotta have jumper on adapter

This is the one thing that will stop me fitting an SSD... for now.

I'm not sure why, but I didn't remember to remove CD drive cable....

but, t's functioning perfectly with my CD drive in....

And I just burned a disk to check.

bizarre...both atestarr and i had to remove our cd drive to get the ssd to show up promptly and consistently. perhaps the ide/sata adapter is the only real variable?

If I can get one of those Kingpin adaptors in the UK I'd happily spend another tenner to get ones that works fine.

They are for sale on ebay.

That's where I got mine. I tried an el cheapo IDE to SATA adapter first and it worked but I lost control of the CD drive - couldn't sample off it.

The Kingwin ADP-06 seems to be 100% compatible. Apologies to the OP I should have chimed in earlier on this thread, but I figured you must have read the thread where I installed the Kingwin ADP-06 and got excellent results?

Get one sooner rather than later, you know, they also work in the circa 1998 E-mu e5000 Ultra.

Cost as much for the postage as it did for the item! But still only £19.50 for the lot
(unless UPS do their usual scam for charging me the customs import tax that "we've paid for you" plus an "admin fee" which costs as much as the bloody tax does)
