Right now I have an Akai Mpc-1000 with JJOS1 4.99 and I’m actually very good into the features which cover my needs at the moment. But it’s very tempting to upgrade to this JJOS2XL version.

Are there big differences from my older version in workflow if we compared – I was thinking about menus etc? Because the feature list of JJOS2XL looks very overwhelming. http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/chart.htm

No doubt that the programmer has spent many hours trying to satisfy as many people as possible.

Install it and try it out for a while (only restriction is that you can't save) - it will run OS1 in parallel (hold TAP TEMPO on boot up to switch).

On the whole, you should be able to adapt to most areas very quickly indeed. Core functionality hasn't changed too much, there's just a lot more additional features. Really depends what you are looking for compared to what you already have.

Just be aware that OS1 projects will not load very well, so will have to be 'adapted'.

i had a 1000 with jjos1 and never really had any intentions of upgrading. jjos1 is perfectly fine, then i sold my 1000 and bought a 2500 that had jjosxl already installed on it.. so many features, NDC alone makes it worth it...

JJOSXL is the only reason that I still own and use a MPC 2500. The JJ developers are definitely in touch with the MPC user.

Yes. There are so many excellent additions over the Akai OS or even the other JJ OS's (with very minor tradeoffs) that even using 25% of the new features it would still be value.

I agree with mpc-tutor, you haven't got anything to lose by downloading JJOS2XL and messing around with it to see if it's what you need to further aid your production or not. If you do then you can purchase the code to allow you to save and if you don't you then you can stick to JJOS1.

On a personal note I don't think I could live without JJOS2XL

That pretty much sums it up, and if you look 99.9% of JJOS2XL owners are gonna say the same thing. Those are some crazy customer satisfaction numbers.

It would be funny to take a video of an OS XL user being forced to use the Akai OS again. The look of disgust and frustration on our faces would make a fitting "commercial" for JJOS.

Would be funny to watch, if I was forced back to use the Akai OS I would reckon my 1000 would end up in pieces on the floor

I loaded up akai os for shits and giggles not so long ago, to see what I've gained with os2xl. Their is too much to list without forgetting something. I'd go as far as to say 1k's and 2.5K's are paperweights without it.
