Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By allank Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:30 am
I will be putting up my 8 output card and eb16 card from my old 2kxl on ebay within the next week..

I will post in the gear for sale section.

I will state that while the eb16 isn't "high quality" you can actually get some pretty interesting sounds out of it..

However for your question about doing stuff in real time in pro-tools (other than tracking) then the 8 output board is more useful

yeah exactly... you aint doing automation recording with the eb16.. that is for sure. I hate that fx card.... but I do like it too. I always use the damn thing so that says something.

Drums from cardreader, samples from vinyl. DJ-mixer is not my thing, I like a 31-band EQ orsomething for the drums and samples.

There is no built in alternative that you can add, save, and re-open later with the ability to change the fx.... unless you record the stems of the mpc beat with no fx into protools and add fx pluggins... save the project... when you reopen it you can still tweak the pluggins.

Unable to make changes its not a problem.
This is really what I want. And can be done with a Hardware EQ?

Whats the price youre gonna ask for? Actually I dont want to any of these cards if I have another solution, just want a alternative.

Yo guys, again thanks for the reactions. Im really appriciating it. Thanks from Amsterdam

well you run the outputs into your eq... then the eq into the computer.... when you play a sound it's being EQed.. and your computer is recording it.

the reason a dj mixer is mentioned is because often people dont have turntables that can output a line level signal... most tables output a phono signal. So they have to either use a turntable preamp... or a dj mixer which has one built in. Most dj mixers also have a line input... so you can run other gear into it as well... the outputs of the mixer can go to the mpc for sampling records at line level... however coincidentally most dj mixers have an EQ as well.... which you can adjust sounds before sampling them into the machine.

I understand, but for my drums I use a cardreader. Whats the solution for that ? A Hardware EQ again ?

Just f*** Pro Tools(computer) for a moment. Can I do al the recordings with EQ on the MPC first ? With instead of the EQ into computer, into MP. Possible ? For in and output do I need the Digital i/o ? I dont have these, because I have no IB.

You can buy a 31 band hardware eq to put between your turntable and mpc but you wont be able to eq your drums any other way than on the way out since they are on a card. Thing about the card is that you load it up from your computer... I would recommend you get familiar with this.

nah, if you are loading from a card.. the sounds will not be getting effects on the way into the mpc... if you dont have the eb16 the only way to add effects is on the way out of the mpc. You cant install a different effect unit in place of the eb16.

Not really correct, you can load them into Pro Tools from the memory card, modify them with EQ and other effects, and then save them back onto the memory card, before loading them into the MPC.

I think many of us have tried to tell him that but OP doesnt want to consider using the computer for some reason..

Anyway OP if you want i might have a 8outs and eb16 to sell to you. PM me

meh, im done.. the dude already said to forget the computer and pro tools... the dude just doesn't get how the mpc works. He doesn't want to sample into the mpc, he wants to load his vinyl samples from the card. He doesn't want to record into pro tools with an effect unit in between the mpc and the interface... he doesn't want to use protools effects and load them on the card for the mpc.... he wants a hardware EQ that plugs into the socket where the EB16 card is connected. O.o... he'll figure it out eventually.

The reason for that is that I want to make the whole beat on the MPC first. I dont want to touch the computer before that. After the raw-beat is done(with global EQ) and than track out to PT. But Ive decided to buy an EB16, and PM'ed KidProcrass.

Thanks again for your reactions.

The bid start price for the eb16 will start at $100 AUD (which is almost the same as USD) and will have a buy it now for $200.00

The bid price for the individual outs board will be $50 and will have a buy it now at $150.00

Postage will be on top of this. (I imagine between 20 to 40 AUD) . I probably won't put it on ebay till the weekend.. so I am open to offers via pm in here..
