Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

this is just my opinion but i think the problem could be that from my observation is that maschine users are going over to the ren and they are skeptical one because of the software like i was but just hey i'm going to take the plunge. then another is that native instruments has steady updated and added sounds/vst's/etc. in the free update. so people are wondering will akai do that to. if not. they are like why spend 1200 when they can spend half of that and get more from native instruments. just my opinion. say what you want but 1200 is a lot of damn money for just controller which the ren is. no other controller comes close to that price. grant it, it's a soundcard as well but it's still over a grand for just a controller. now you have to spend another grand for a computer. in 2013 no one wants to spend 2000 for a sampler. well anyway i bet i get pro tools or i'm just going to go buy another one get the protools free and then take it back. lol

Looks like Akai is going to send me PT express :-D

I purchased mine on 2-2 and just had to email them a receipt etc.

BTW
Really liking the Ren for the small amount of time on it so far. I'm coming from the 1000 and 5000 and absolutely love the chop shop! I spent last night chopping breaks and getting use to the sample edit. The add/remove slice feature coming will be a bonus! I wasn't sure how I woul like chopping using the laptop but so far I prefer it over doing it on the 5000. Chop on the software and bang out beats on the hardware, its a nice workflow for me :smoker:

Cool, Guitar Center has 12% off. Going to see if I can price match that else where for no sales tax.

ZZsounds said they will contact Akai and get back to me about the pro tools express.

I Phoned akai today as Dan said
and they told me anyone who purchased BEFORE feb 1st WONT be eligible for the pro tools express!

not sure if anyone else has stated this but this is pants

anyway I then went on to ask about 1.3 update coming out so I can use my mpc without it crashing or acting funny he said it would be coming out soon I said so in theory I could return it as its not fit for use and re purchase it with pro tools he said I had a very good point and if I wanted to speak to the place where I bought it

dont think ill actually do all this to get pro tools but its annoying and should be available to us based on what we have had to put up with and being patient enough to wait for the update that fixes everything

sbrown3a wrote:So after watching saintjoe's video interview Dan stated that they won't be jerks about previous Ren getting the pro tools express for free. He stated we would have to call tech support and the promotion was starting on Thursday. So that means January 31 2013 we need to start calling tech support and hold Dan to his word. Want to save that video clip and play for them if they try to tell us otherwise. They released 2 to 3 half assed updates that did not improve much so those of us who already own the Ren should not be cheated out of that software. If it was not for us on this forum making noise these future improvements and bug fixes would not have been addressed.

But this is Akai you're talking about. Just like how they sent out a tweet saying a MPC5000 was coming when they were hyping up the Ren, just to appease MPC5000 owners, only to discontinue it and take no responsibility for getting hopes up for the owners of their previous flagship MPC.

The bottomline: Akai doesn't care about its customers because they know that the mythos that exists around the Akai brand name status and its association with the hiphop crowd is enough for them to keep peddling their wares for the next sucker fanboy. Just look at how Akai is treating its early adopters compared to what NI does, like how every existing owner of Maschine receives a full license for Massive and Komplete Elements for free, not to mention free licenses and discount codes for other new NI products and Maschine packs.

Some info on PT Express, an officially unsupported 32 bit application. We know how you all feel about 32 bit applications dont we...

Last Updated : February 5, 2013
Products Affected : Pro_Tools_Express

Q: I just bought an Mbox that didn’t include Pro Tools Express—can I get it now?
A: Unfortunately, no. Pro Tools Express is only available with Mbox (3rd Gen) and Mbox Mini (3rd Gen) interfaces purchased on or after March 21, 2012.

Q: Does Pro Tools Express support 64-bit?
A: Like Pro Tools 10, Pro Tools Express is compatible with Mac and Windows 64-bit operating systems. However, it does not run natively as a 64-bit application at this time.

Q: Can I open sessions created with Pro Tools HD, Pro Tools, Pro Tools MP, or Pro Tools SE software in Pro Tools Express?
A: Yes, you can use Pro Tools Express to open and work on sessions created with all other versions of Pro Tools. Please be aware that there are some limitations to the lossless round-trip compatibility between the various versions, depending on the session’s size and complexity.

Q: What are the support options for Pro Tools Express?
A: Since Pro Tools Express is bundled for free (with specific interfaces), Avid does not include support for it. Support options include the Knowledge Base and User Forum.

Read my lips:

No protools ever for early adopters. If you buy a Mbox Nukai will prob find a loophole that if you bought a Ren in Oct there's no upgrade path for you and make it a term of contract with Avid.

If you buy a Max25 there will prob be a caveat that you don't qualify for PTE if you bought a Ren in Oct. the salesperson will have mugshots of suspected early adopters and will remove PTE from your retail box

Early adopters are designed to suffer.

So suffer well and let's hear no more about it

Go back to your homes.....there is nothing to see here! :-D

You really would be better using a full DAW, cubase, PT 10, Logic etc.....It cuts out all the limitations and you get support.....I would like to have PT express too, maybe give me an insight on how PT works, but I don't think it will happen.

Enjoy your weekend, have fun, make some beats!
