Card Readers / Compact Flashman2011
Bad data issues regarding Zip and oddly floppies as well? (more on that in a seperate post) which began last summer, had me looking towards the direction of ebay after I had reviewed posts on this forum and done some research on the viability of card readers?
On this point of card readers, may I ask if anyone here has dealt with Compact Flashman2011 from ebay and can confirm him to be trust worthy?
Valixi OS 3.5 / abandonware?
Whilst reviewing Ebay in the last days I myself have also noticed the sudden appearance of Valixi OS 3.5 Eprom chips! I must say I was stunned!
I have followed this saga closely over the years as I first came across the Mansell Labs website independently of this forum.
I then researched it here and came across posts regarding unfulfilled orders?
The reason i'm posting about this here is that the number of chips available on ebay is falling and it makes me think that members possibly from this forum are purchasing them?
My own view is that the OS itself is abandonware (in much the same way as Akai /Roger Linn abandoned the MPC3000 itself) with probably little or no real commercial value given Rohan no longer supplies it? and the pool of MPC3000's in existence and good working order continues to slowly shrinks down as the years go by.
I personally think it's a real shame also for us the users that Rohan annd Roger Linn didn't collaborate together to produce a legitimate business solution that permitted us a reliable supply of the Valixi OS 3.50 Eprom's?
I like many on here i'm sure do however court some of the additional features this OS offers over OS 3.11? However given some other issues with my MPC3000 and not being electronically minded i'm very wary of messing with the brains of my machine?
Finally i've also noticed a spat appears to have emerged between Compact Flashman2011 and another ebay seller Nasty Nas 2005 both claiming that their listing has been copied and to be warey of the other seller in question?
I would be interested to hear the view of anyone who understands about Eprom's and the possible risks involved if any of installing something like this?
