MPC 3000 Pads - I have hit them really hard

Yup, with models like the 60 and 3000 that get pimped on ebay and every craiglist around the country, you know everyone and their mother were banging on those pads

Not always. I got new pads and sensor and still cant hit full level .

I've heard people say the same as Mitch before, in terms of replacing the sensors and still not getting full level hits without FULL on.

As with ALL 3000/60 issues there never seems to be a simple answer or a cure all remedy that works for everyone.

my pads looked very new top and bottom, and even though I cleaned the sensors and put a large amount of tape under pads I'm still noticing a difference between the hardest I can hit (without a hammer) and FULL setting when I toggle between the too.

Oh no ! I'll never be able to get that image outta my brain now.

MPC/MPD pads decides velocity by contacted area, rather than actual pressure on the pad. This is why the pads contacts are round oval shape, the contact area would change by how hard it is hit.

If you tap MPC pads with, say, a pen cap (for instance) probably you won't archive full velocity no matter how hard you hit the pads with it.

For my case, applying electrical tape on the back of MPC pads improved sensibility of pads. My MPC's original rubber pads were worn out, and the surface's become gummy, which made it impossible to trigger pads fast. Applying electrical tape resolved those issues.

If want to know whether or not the sensor is working fine or not, open your MPC, remove the rubber pad sheet, then tap the sensor directly with your fingers.

Work on 16 levels and full levels?

Do I need new pad sensors? or Do I need to clean under the pads?

there was a guy on USA ebay selling packing foam type stuff you can put under your pads (really cheap) I'm going to fit that within the next few days - looks stupid (just packing foam), but heard it works really good and that was the only reason I bought. will let you know how I get on.

I tend to mainly use 16 levels as I use the step edit function to programme my beats.

I batter my pads and get no where near full volume.

awwww man - despite my mate getting on well with the foam it was sh+t for me - it caused a load of double triggering that was VERY annoying. dunno if I need to cut them less wide or what, might give another go tomorrow or later in the week.

velocity wise, it DID help, but the pads were playing themselves and a tap on the body work would trigger a freakin sound!!

I hate taking my pads out, but after doing it about 5 time tonight I'm actually quite good at it now...

I used to have electrical tape under the pads - found that fairly rubbish, just slightly better.

time for new sensors and pads - maybe a pad colour change.
