sup bros. just picked up a 500, took it home got it all wired up n stuff and went to mess about and sample a few things. problem im having is that i can only hear sound through the left input. at first i thought it was my headphones then i tried a different set and i got the same problem. also when i try to change the mode it only goes from stereo to mono L, no R option. so im guessing its not even recognising any input into the right side. is this a connection issue or is the actual jack faulty (ebay purchase). any thoughts? cheers

actually its not just when im sampling that sound only comes out of the left side. even drum sounds which ive taken from the tutorial sample pack come out the left. i never noticed this due to using portable speakers. basically im only hearing any sound through the left side of my headphones. at first i thought it was something up with my connections but now im thinking maybe not? im pretty confused...

So with headphones plugged into the headphone port you only hear sound from the left side? How about the the L/R 1/4" outputs?

This is normal.

Try resetting your MPC. Maybe there's something set wrong...

Page 106...
1. Turn the MPC500 on while holding the [ERASE / UNDO] button.
2. Release the [ERASE / UNDO] button after the display shows [MPC500 (##MB installed)].
Now the MPC500 is reset to the Factory Preset settings.

If that doesn't get it. You might have something wrong with the hardware.

i tried resetting the mpc and im getting the same result(s). i havent got any speakers to try the L/R outputs (im in transit at the moment) but i plugged the headphones into them individually and im still getting nothing from the right side. i think i can presume at this point then that its the machine thats faulty? im currenty backpacking around the southern hemisphere with this thing so i wouldbt have the first clue on how/were to get this fixed! (or what even needs fixing!)

That's normal. Headphones are stereo, so plugging them into a mono output is only going to give you one channel.
