WAV. VELOCITY PROBLEM. I guess i am choosen :P

Hey,

i don't know what is happened, meaby i am "choosen"
When i made something on my MPC 1K i will record it and save as wav. Normal procedure like all thinks, but Velocity of it is quite different, it is much lower than this what i hear durring producing. How can i fix it or something.

Any ideas?

mode > OTHER > set master level to 0db.

It is set on 0 db all the time...

I dunno then. I assumed you were talking about recording the MAIN OUT, if your master level is at 0db, then the recording should be the same volume that it originally played.
Or are you talking about something else?
how about a few more details of what exactly you're doing?

My bad. I didn't mentoin that is it a problem when i copy recorded wav. to my PC, in the box is everything all right. I mean velocity is different (lower) on my PC when i play my beat on it .

Do you have some advices, now?

You need to clarify your issue. Once it's recorded/bounced to audio it's loudness/dB not velocity, but of course the velocity when you triggered/programmed your MIDI dictates what that is going to be.

So on your MPC what are the recorded MIDI velocities of your notes from 1-127 on the velocity level?

That's full level, highest value MIDI will register. So if your output is set to 0dB then you need to look at how or why the signal is going to computer at a seemingly lower dB level.

I read what you wrote as you internally bouncing these WAVS in the MPC. Why they would be too low I'm not sure. You could if the signal isn't too low use a Normalize function in a computer audio editor. (Normalize averages out the peaks and applies a volume increase based on that).

Oh i tried to make it normalize but it didn't gave me expected results.
Can you explain me how can i check my "signal status" to comes to the conlusion why it goes much lower?

Maybe because the MPC is already at 0dB and zero dB is the level normalization aims for. Possibly the measure isn't accurate form the fact that you find them too low.

But keep this in mind. For the last 15 years or so records that are released have been up to twice as loud than ones from previous decades. I don't know your age but a lot of people have only heard commercial music that was heavily boosted in perceived volume in their lives and even a file that is the proper 0dB level may sound too low based on their experience with commercial releases.

I'll try to fire up my 1000 and see how they sound to me as far as volume/signal impedance. I seldom use my MPC's (lots of software here too) and I usually would record the MPC's to the computer and control my levels on the fly.
