Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have a Yamaha keyboard hooked up to my 2000xl, but no mixing board, is it possible for me to make a beat with both drums/samples from my MPC and MIDI data (piano string, violin, etc,) and hear it all play as one complete beat through my monitors?????When I play and record somthing on the keyboard it will only playback through the keyboard and I cannot hear it together with the drums.

No ........ you could record the Yamaha keyboard, then sample that in the MPC. You should get some kind of mixer. If funds are low you can get really basic ones that aren't much more than splitter boxes with volume controls.

How do I sample after I record the keyboard? Do you have any advice or suggestions on a mixing board in the 300-400 range?

unfortunately u cannot sample and playback on the fly. so u will need to let the mpc record in sample mode as u play the keyboard. then maybe chop it up or playback the full sample in the mpc then voila it done.

I would get one those portable Breingher mixers very good for just starting out. so u can then be more flexible with other stuff day a another sound module for example

Can someone please explain to me exactly how to sample from the keyboard? Does the sampling go through the MIDI cables? Do I do it in normal sample mode or MIDI/Sync Mode? and if there are any settings I need to adjust to sample from the keyboard? I have tried several times but cant figure it out, I appriciate the help.

Sampling from the keyboard ...... you could as Penfold says & just play the keyboard into the MPC's audio ins while the MPC is recording, but you won't get the timing right unless you have some kind of metronome or rythmn to play along to. What I would do is write your keyboard parts on the MPC so the MPC can play them (so that is via midi). Then make as good a recording of that as possible & then sample that recording.

Have a look at the Behringer Eurorack mixers.
