HUGE PROBLEM !!!

i lode all my beats from floppy to my PC. than i wont work on a beat that i saved in my PC. wen a try to lode it the mp pup up a message "can found "bass" "

I've found the file... bud tha have a "MB" behind the name (bass MB.snd)

the mpc cand open the file .... (all other work)

i gut this MB behind my prog. and my .all but i can open it ...


on each diskette is a file with this MB on the and ....
so i think i killt all my beats.....

I hope someone can help me... before I get mad .....

are you working on a mac?
were all your file names 8 characters or less? this can cause all sorts of havoc when you connect it to a computer.

i have had this happen before but i can't remember exactly what caused it.

no i work with a windos PC
yeas sum file names are longer than 8 character...

i tack two new disc´s and lode beat from my pc on floppy .. sum file names were changed. so i must scip it wen i lode my prog and replace by myself.

and than i save the prog. again


this is the biggest shit in my live for a long time !!!!

Could you just rename it? Or copy and rename?

well you f*ed up there.
windows just destroyed any files that had the same first 8 chars.

one thing to try, if there were not any similar named files, is to rename them on the mpc to what you think they should be.

however if multiple files had the same first 8chars, they are gone.

always save all files with 8 characters or less - this is a hard habit to get into because by default the mpc names some things really long (for example when you split a stereo file to mono).

but i think i can rescue sum stuff ..... it may not be so much files have been named so long .
