My bad... I guess my fan mod could get misinterpreted that the MV overheats. Like Debauch stated the MV doesn't overheat at all.
I replaced the stock fan because it was getting old and started to make noise. Not a loud noise but it was irritating enough for me to replace it. Plus I like doing crazy electrical shit like that on my gear just to see if I could do it.

I' m getting an MV soon but i'm a bit worried about something.I just read that it doesn't have a monitor off option like in the mpc, is it true?I always have to put monitor off on my mpc otherwise i have that feedback noise.I guess it would be a problem with the MV especially when resampling...

^ well there are workarounds... you could unplug the cable.. you could switch it from analog to digital in the options... you could turn the gain knobs down... I never had an issue like that so I never looked for that option.

Thanks, i'm not sure that unplugging the cables will allow me to resample though? Anyway, i'm sure i'll find a solution.

oh, you want to resample.. do you mean for example turning a "sequence" into a single sample? or making a single .wav out of a bunch of stuff you built? because you can do that in mixdown mode internally without needing to do cable out to in routing.

Ah that's nice! Yes, for example resampling layered drums to turn it into one single sound.

A cool trick i learned with keeping noisy fans quiet. When working on a PC or laptop, disassemble the fan until you can get as much of it out without any circuit board on the fan.

Get a shallow bowl. Fill the bowl with sewing machine oil only. Submerge the front of the fan for 45 minutes in oil and submerge the back of the fan for 45 minutes. This should lubricate the bearings well enough.

Now grab another plate or bowl to let the excess oil drip and let it drip dry for about 1.5-2 hours. Then grab a nine volt battery and two thin chicken wires. You want to do this on the ground/ concrete where the excess oil can drop to. Connect the positive to positive of the battery and the negative to the negative of the battery. Turn on the fan and oil should shoot, let go of the wire when there is no more excess oil splattering.

If you keep good maintenance on a noisy fan early on, sewing machine oil is a cheaper fix than buying a new fan all the time. Hope this helps.

I just got my MV 8000, it seems like the guy who sold it to me erased the patches folder, so i don't have any instruments loaded. Anyone knows where i can find it?

no idea but there plenty of other sounds out there u dont need the mv ones

the roland website has some.. also there is another website that has a bunch of patches for download...

the roland ones are basic ones you'd find on a keyboard. the instruments are useful and fun to use. Making your own and creating patches from your own keyboards is a good idea too.

Yes, i found them on mvnation with some other kits included i think.
Another problem My C3 button for effects doesn't work well. Is there a way i can assign a slider or something to control the effects instead of that C3 button?

oh the c3 knob? I dont think you can.. except maybe you can adjust params manually in the menus with the rotaty wheel for some things...

I suggest getting some contact cleaner spray and cleaning out the knob... dirt can cause those to skip and not work properly...


also, sometimes when turning an effect on.. or you feel like adjusting a c knob... you may have to rotate it a bit first before it's activated.. it's odd.. I think until you start moving it the value is almost sort of locked.. it's sort of odd.

I recently discovered Deoxit. I've been at this for a long time and have replaced many contact switches and pots. Before you do this definately try the Deoxit. I swear by it now. I even put the Deoxit gold on new contact-pots before installing them. Stuff is sent by the hardware Gods. Pots especially. Only thing is you may have to crack that sucker open to apply it. You'll be happy you did.
