Whatsup guys,

Let's say i sequence a 4bar drum loop. Now I get hook up my mic to the MPC, which is connected to my bass guitar. I want to record a 4bar bassline on top of the drums that i've already sequenced, i want to be able to hear my drum sequence play while recording my bass. At this moment, I go to mode+record and sample in my bass then assign it to a pad, but because i don't hear my drums most of the time i'm playing off and i have to correct it by chopping the bass up..not quite user-friendly.

Am I overseeing something? I'm using a 1000 with JJOS. (this also possible on a MPC3000 & 2000XL?)

I need a DAW to do this right? I want it directly in my MPC

Cool but this will also record my drums, right? I just want my bass guitar to be recorded.

No.
Tracks 57-64 (in JJOS) are audio tracks for recording.

JUST HIT PLAY

yep just hit play after you go into record sample screen.
Its really simple and I am amazed no one is saying this.
OK so all you want to do is just record bass guitar as sequence plays so it is in time but you want to just record bass guitar?? then set sequence up. Then stop it of course, and maybe put on the count in so you get a count in.

So [MODE] + PAD 5 and plug in bass. Record one side if mono bass to save memory and time.

HIT record in record window and have it set to record - should say waiting for input. unless you got too much noise then you need a gate.

HIT PLAY

Now play bass.

hit stop.

done.

That is a 100% correct, exactly what I want.

My MPC 1000 is away right now, but when I get it back I will definitely check it out!

yeah thought so.

it also helps to say which JJOS as there are a few.

i suggested a gate to if there is a lot of noise, depending. Just so it does not trigger sampling in record mode till you hit that first note on the bass.

Typo is right as well just that he did not go into detail is all. the rest.... :smoker: yeah no comment

audio tracks is not the answer until you wanna maybe layer that sample, but its probably best to make it a sample on a pad.

have fun. post it up on the cloud and give us a listen to that funky bass. better be funky bass not pop otherwise i will be

Turn on input thru and press play start while in record mode.

No it will only record input in.

Are you asking me if you can record just the bass as sequence plays typo?
Yes it can if you set sample record window to input and also if mono set left or right input to for mono signal.
This way it is not recording the MPC output, so any EQ or FX have to be done on the input / FX section of the input. So in this case you could set it to say left and LPF, HPF filters, EQ and bit reduction. This means that the recorded sample of your bass will not have gone through the Master FX EQ section at all, it is input only. But it will allow of course to play your sequence as you are in record window and not record it.

Not directed at you blip, just a slight shock of O.P. still not getting how to do it.And as someone who records bass, guitar, analog synth, and percussion I recommend a foot switch.

Don't be in shock, we are all here to learn homie. As i've already said I don't have my MPC at the moment so i can't test it. That's why i'm asking it here.

@Bliprock: thanks, i'm using JJOS1 v.4.99 btw.
