SYNC'ing MPC Ren with a DAW via Physical MIDI output ports

In Pro Tools, this is really simple. Just select a loop selection (bars 1-5 for example) depending on how bars you have in the MPC and set the playback mode to Loop Playback Mode by clicking the play button. Cubase should be similar. Make sure the session tempo matches the MPC tempo.

Yeah that is an option. But Cubase has another option which sends location data along with the MTC/MIDI clock. It will make sure that any sequencer slaved to it will loop when it loops....jumps when it jumps. I want to see some thing like that added to the Ren.

Abelton Live TRANSPORT CONTROLS..

Ok I got Abelton Live figured out, here's how it's done..

To configure Ableton Live for transport control from the MPC Renaissance hardware:

1. Open Live's MIDI preferences

2. Ensure that Remote is set to On for the MPC Public Input.

3. Close preferences

4. Click the MIDI button in the top right corner of Live.. (observe that all assignable functions are now highlighted)

5. Click on the Play button, then press the corresponding transport key on ACV0 hardware.

6. Continue in the same fashion with the other transport functions.

7. For each assigned parameter, ensure that the Mode is set to "(2's Comp)". (This can be found at the bottom of Live, directly after the new MIDI assignment has been learned)

8. After loading the MPC Software as a plugin inside Live, go to the MPC Software Preferences panel and select "Plugin" as your Hardware Transport Control option.

9. You can now use your MPC Renaissance transport buttons to control Live transport. The MPC Software as a plugin will sync automatically.

Can you use the MPC Ren plugin to sequence other instruments that are hosted by Live?

Tried getting this to work with ableton live.....no dice.

DJ Hellfire- I've tried doing the looping thing with Pro-tools and my 2000 like you said. However when I press play on the MPC it clears off my loop points in Pro-Tools and starts at 1l1l000. How do you get yours to keep looping?

but you can t share the asio driver on a windows pc

Using the Ren as a plugin to sync to a DAW is one thing. To use the Ren as a controller for another product is a little different.

This was by far the easiest, no headache method of using the Ren like a traditional MPC.

So in this scenario, the REN is essentially a controller and a sequencer? I'm just trying to understand why you would need Battery and not use the REN for drums and samples?

Have set Pro Tools as the Master and make it control playback of the MPC!
