mpc 60 no headphone input here's a substitute

Not sure if anyone has posted this before if so sorry guys. well before I sold my 60 when ever I wanted to make beats I always had to have it either connected to my self powered speakers or dj mixer and amp with speakers . Til I found a cool fix which was to use a headphone amplifier easy to set up and all you need is a good pair of headphones and you straight. Headphone amps range in price from 22.00 to 350.00 depending on what company you go with. The model I have is the pyle pro PHA 40 I got it for 35.00 sound quality is pretty good.

A stereo 1/4-to 1/8 jack will work as well if you can't find the phone amp, just plug one end into the stereo outs and the other into your headphones.

LOL!!! Those are some great ideas...especially the 1/4 inch to 1/8 converter/plug...comes in really handy for me when I just want to work something out in the corner by myself before hooking it up to the big amp and speakers...

Can you post a photo to clarify what cable you are actually talking about? Do you get sound in both sides of the heaphones or is it still mono?

Care to elaborate? What plugs into where and what is the end result? Mono, Stereo?

Am I mistaken in thinking there is a custom headphone jack mod for the mk1? Thought I had seen some info on it somewhere but can't remember where.

I believe Bruce Forat offers this, don't know if the schematics are floating around the web. Shouldnt be to difficult to copy from a 60II headphone circuit, the service manual is based on the MK1. The 60II headphone output is nice and loud compared to the other outputs, a pleasure to use indeed...

yeah but it's shunted off the main outputs... O.o

so when you are listening... cool, but you need that pot turned down around 2 or 3 o'clock. Then for tracking out you might need it up between 2 and 4 o'clock.. but unplug the phones first so you aren't driving the shit out of them. having the jack on the front is awesome though.. 2000/xl

I don't think that is correct Clint.

The MPC60 Service Manual is based on the MPC60, the MPC60II Service Manual is based on the MPC60II...






There are dedicated lines from the MPC60II ADC PCB to the MPC60II Head Phone PCB, you would have to work out where they come from on the MPC60II ADC PCB, and duplicate those connection points on the MPC60 ADC PCB, for a cloned MPC60II headphone circuit to pickup it's input signal from...




If I get around to it, I might try to clone the MPC60II Head Phone PCB onto perfboard and put up some DIY instructions so anyone can make their own.

This should give you a stereo signal into headphones from the MPC stereo main outputs, no idea what sort of levels the stereo outs would be able to drive headphones to...

Headphone amplifiers generally will take a stereo line level input, so you would plug the main stereo out of the MPC into the headphone amplifier.

Depending on the model, it will give you a number of stereo headphone outputs, four for example on a lot of units.

Thanks Simon, I was unaware there was a service manual for the 60II. And believe me I've done many searches. Seems to be no links in our so called MPC60 Bible either. Do you have links to those?

If anyone has useful links or tips it would help if they were also posted in the MPC60 Bible. Ill post a link to this thread regarding the use of headphones on the MPC60.

I've found that they work well for me, I have one of those for travel purposes when I need privacy to work. But they work best with studio headphones, I will say.
