As far as i know, they consulted those producers mainly for the layout of the hardware, not for the software. And as it was said before, betatesters can find problems and report them to Akai, but it's the job of Akai to implement or fix that.

Now we know that the Akai development team consists of probably around 10 people (i think max 3 or 4 are programmers) so that gives you a hint on the small capacity they have.

Still i think they could have focused more on the classic features used in hiphop production that are missing right now, or were implemented in a different way...

At the end of the day all we can do is wait. Don't get angry that much over the decay of a few days, it's really not worth it.

Anyway seeing people upset at this point means that they really waited for this 1.3, and are disappointed to be informed at the release date : it's means they like the REN, and that they put a lot of trust in the development of this machine, despite earlier concerns. It's a quite good news for Dan, for all the REN team, and for the future of the REN. These complaints are encouragements !

AKAI WHY DO YOU ADVERTISE WITH RELEASE DATES AND FAIL TO DELIVER EVERY OPPORTUNITY YOU GET. NOTHING ABOUT REN IS ON TIME, INCLUDING ITS OWN RELEASE DATE AND OS UPDATES. YA REALLY MAKE IT EASY FOR YOUR COMPETITION

Jahrome calls himself MPC expert n is proud of over 2k of hrs invested on Ren, makes you wonder   actually it dont anymore

A friend got a maschine just as I got my ren and this is what he does when comparing our customer service he just laughs at me and say I told you they did it with the 5000 just watch

I dont even wanna tell him the update is not out when it was brought to attention that it wouldn't

Hey Dan
Thanx for being informnative....that's a very good step...for us customers.
I thought it wouldn't be ready....
Man I am not a super producer not near it but I understand SW development and almost every SW I use in my day2day work has a "when it's done" update policy....
I feel the people that are anxious..as I am myself...but don't be angry mates! eventually we are getting the 1.3 and 1.4 and so on...and it's better to be good stable updates rather than buggy stuff. The akai commitment is clear this time and for now.
As I said in other thread I also thank Peteblues for being around...this is way better than no information at all.
If you are on a deadline and need the update for finishing it...maybe just think before going down with a tool you clearly cannot do the job with in the moment you started this concrete job. I mean I do my job with the tools I have in the moment they are when the job is started...I never relly my pro job to a promise or announcement of a future release to com...Hope this makes sense at all.
I too think that beta should be open as Nym stated.

Don't be mad???
I don't even own a Ren and I'm irritated.
No matter how much money you make, these things cost too much money for it to not work properly.
For me that's the bottom line.
I work in IT; I understand the comment about updating software, just don't announce stuff just to compete with the competition...

if the software was still buggy or there were any other unknowns, then you simply state that at the outset, we the customers shouldn't have to read between the lines - at the very least you say 'we're doing our best to have it ready by Feb 15th'

I don't agree with this post. why would any professional base or even start a project based on a pending software update release. I've been in this game a long time also and if I start a project for someone, I will complete it with the version that I have but if during that time, a software that I am using releases an update that can help me, then the better but I'm not going to base my project around a pending update. to me,THAT is not professional.

would you rather Dan not come on here to say something about the release coming out today? if he didn't then all of you would start bashing akai for giving a date and not meeting that date and not saying anything about it.

munkond wrote:if it's here next week as promised then great, I look forward to that however, as I said, this is not a professional way of dealing with things and defending sloppy practice is essentially encouraging it to continue

before we get all uptight, Dan never promised next week...

we've all waited this long for 1.3, another week is not going to kill us or stop us from doing what we have been doing since 1.0

This is pretty sad, and reason why I'm holding back on purchasing Ren. I got no trust in current akai and hardly any faith left. On the bright side sounds like when 1.3 hits it's going to be rock solid. Lets see if they can deliver on this account, although their promises sound less believable each time they do this

Ofcourse you had to know it wouldn't be ready today. Why not tell us yesterday or days before and spare us the offense? This is totally an inconsiderate move on the company's part and I wholeheartedly disagree with this approach. Enough said!

Now you'll have a couple of days towards the end of the week, take off NEXT Friday AND have the weekend to get intimate with a (hopefully) solid 1.3 release. Win...Win. :smoker:
