Not to be a prick, but instead of wading through long pages of tedious descriptions, one could better just learn the basics of MIDI and sequencing. It's really not all that hard and you can apply the knowledge to a lot of different set ups, not just MPC + Reason.

HUGE shout to OP for posting this. I was successfully able to sync my MP with Reason 5 using his instructions and am having a blast recording-in Reason's instruments. This is f*cking awesome!

Let me also add that I'm a complete nuber when it comes to MIDI, so if I can get it to work, you guys should too.

Only thing I'm having trouble figuring out is how to get all of the sounds to play thru the same output because at the moment, Reason's instruments play out thru my laptop stereo jack to speakers, and any internal sounds loaded in the MP obviously play thru the stereo/coax out of my MP so mixing Reason instruments and internal sounds from MP is a no-go.

Time for a hardware mixer/audio interface maybe? Or go the Track out/DAW/Rewire/ software mixer route.

Luckily my speaker system has two inputs for 1/4" stereo jack so what I ended up doing was hooking up both the laptop and MPC to it and now I get simultaneous sound from both the MPC and laptop (for Reason).

How to properly combine the two and be able to extract the recorded song is another question though...
