yeah well the moment the last one is sold... it goes back to the same situation.... no legit valixi chips available... people trying to price gouge on them because of that fact amongst mpc resellers... and the precious values of all your legit purchases go back up supposing the other few guys selling repros stop... and no new guys pop up.

the people buying these are getting them to use the machine, not to double the selling price of their 3000s... so yes, if this opportune disapearance of rohan ruined a couple of price gougers and collectors... oh well.

sure, it aint pretty... but let's not get all riaa every two minutes.

and side note.. if those files wind up in the public domain.... dont post the link on the forums... the advert income running the site are close to being shut down because of what looks to the advertisers as cross linking.

furthermore... how much is the charge? 40-50 bucks? that's what people pay to have any type of IT work done by the hour... not including the software... someone bought the equipment, someone did the research... someone did the trials and errors... someone provided the materials.. and at the end of it, it's like the os is free. Not saying that is right, but come on.. formatting and reinstalling a copy of windows would cost you more than that at a shop.... and less work is involved.

It's a hard situation man, you have some very valid points. I have ended my listing anyway. I think the dudes who really wanted them grabbed them in the first couple of weeks anyway. There have been sales coming through, but mainly just stragglers. The first day I listed I sold 10 before I could even blink.

If any of the forum heads need helping out with them, than that's cool, but as for ebay I will call it a day on that.

what ever man, I am not judging you on any of that.... but it does come off like people are mad cause they spend the full amount (as one of the lucky few) and now they cant flip it for triple if they are short rent. I mean, when do you ever hear anyone other than a 20th century fox lawyer freak out so hard on piracy? Hell, nym's albums get downloaded multiples of dozens of times more by pirates in places like russia than they do from him... and you dont hear this type of reaction.

When rohan returns if that ever happens... it's one simple step and the whole situation is rectified... he creates an update with one or two features... fixes a thing or two.... and boom.. he regains all his previous customers for another round. His only issue will be people trusting that he delivers after taking the cash.. but that will only take one or two people to prove... and that is if he is allowed to open up a paypal after this mess (or what ever service he goes with)

So far, I have only heard backlash from people who own legit copies... none from people who are looking for a way to get the latest OS but couldn't... and im sure there are plenty of people who found out about your ebay from the people making the complaints on this forum.

I'm glad you are level headed about it. Some guys on here are mad cos they paid top dollar for the chips.. fair play, but they are just getting mad at the wrong person. I'm not the guy they should be getting mad at.

I think it has done a bit of good. It has put a bit of a stop to these resellers trying to get £1200+ for a standard 3k just cos it has 3.50.

You started it, you are the person responsible for copying, distributing, and profiting illegally from the selling of someone else's property.

I find it hard to understand how you can not see that you do not have any right to copy, distribute, and sell someone else's property. You are personally responsible for driving the market value of this product down to $25.

If Rohan does come back, what damage have you done to the market for his product, beyond recovering the $ he scammed from you?

What have you sold, maybe 100 ROM copies? At $225 each, you have damaged Rohan's potential market to the tune of $22500.

You didn't create anything, you put a ROM into burner and copied it, it really doesn't take any more skill to do that than to copy and burn a CD.

The real skill and work goes into creating the product in the first place, something you obviously are too f**cking useless to do yourself, you couldn't even work out how to change the boot text/name with the ROM images right in front of you FFS!

You can only steal other people's hard work and pass it off as if you are doing something great for the community by stealing, distributing and selling it.

the price gouging opportunists taking advantage of the situation are only going to have issues selling their OG eproms to people who need it to use it... not to collectors who have no quarrel with the inflated cost of an original product... your real deal eproms are not all of a sudden less rare. Every snes game ever made is available to download in rom format... on repro carts.. etc.. yet snes games are skyrocketing in value and have been going on a steep incline over the past 2 or 3 years. People are paying 100 bucks for the raekwon purple tape... and so on.

Up for everyone to have them. Most cats are buying them to enhance beat making, while some of these guys seem to jus collect mpcs to collect dust

well clint is a cool guy, and he openly runs a vintage sampler business... he buys 60s and 3000s, upgrades them... and sells them for a profit after fixing them up and increasing the value over what he payed. He isn't getting rich by any means... actually, he is probably doing a great service to his local area and to the forum. So it's understandable how he could be mad... since he doesn't want to be involved in selling those 3.5/3.10 reproduction chips... but has been probably paying extra to be able to include them in his sales... I get that..

but some of those 3000s that are double the going rate because of rohan's disappearance is ridiculous.
