yeah? I obviously know the eb16 isn't mono in, it merges the left and right signals together though (not sure if that is considered mono out considering there is panning effects and panning etc.. ) but you didn't discover that on your own... neither did I.. I read it on here, and I didn't even realize before reading it a few years back... that is what the conversation in that thread you are referencing was about... test it for yourself like lampdog did who was with you on the topic... until he ran a second test (after realizing his mistake with the first test) and saw what we were talking about. Or dont and continue arguing that the eb16 is 100% stereo.

SimonInAustralia wrote:Yes, and that is exactly what I am trying to tell you...the F-ROM list choice is always available, for that expensive option that only 2 people own, it is nothing to do with the IDE/ATAPI device being connected or not.

Ah well my bad then, you were right... my one mistake proves 100% of what I say on these forums is 100% miss-information... and it also proves that I am wrong, and he can use his atapi card reader without the use of scsi on his 1.11 os in his XL.

GhostMcGrady, dont listen to me.. simon recommends you buying a scsi zip drive and a usb zip drive instead because my recommendation of using os1.20 is miss-information.

Not trying to claim anything, just drawing a parallel to the difficulty in trying to convince someone on the forum that what they believe is not correct.

F**king hell dude, chill the f**k out, don't have a cry about it because I tried to point out that something you said was wrong.

I never said or implied that everything you say on the forums is incorrect.

I try to correct one piece of information that you are incorrect about, and you have a massive cry about it?

Go back to the first page, read my first reply, take your own advice to me and get a f**king grip!

These are the technical model related forums, if you get something wrong, and someone else corrects it so that it is technically correct, what is the problem, besides a possibly bruised ego?

well stay relevant to the topic then.. you are trying to tell the dude with a false parallel telling him I said the eb16 was mono in... which I didn't... since you can route a stereo sample to it.. in order to try and convey that I am some sort of habitual miss-informer. (and apparently your plan is to correct that from now on)

the f-rom issue you chose to emphasize when it has little to do with the fact that he is on OS 1.10 and that is the actual problem. It's been years since I've been on a 2000xl, and I didn't have a problem because I knew I needed 1.20 beforehand and forgot to install it first.. but I still had my mpc open and simply plugged my scsi zip back in with the power connector...

but, if you had a clue of what I was talking about instead of picking out details that dont help the dude... you would realize that often when people tried doing the cf upgrade before installing 1.20, they went into the drive menu and f-rom was (if memory serves me correct) the option that was either the default one (not all the way at the end after scsi 7) or.. it was stuck on f-rom since no floppy or scsi was connected... this is why they even thought to mention f-rom on these forums. But none of that happens when 1.20 is installed because it just works as it should with atapi written. Sorry for forgetting that f-rom is actually still hidden at the end of the list... actually, the reason I probably never noticed it is because I always had to either go right to floppy, or scsi-1 for the zip drive... you are right, it must always say f-rom as it does on the regular 2000... but it only shows cd-rom or mo drive when one is connected. F-rom doesn't have this characteristic as well.

is the record straight now?

OMG, give up on the EB16, that brief reference was nothing at all to do with you, I was actually referring to the multiple attempts at trying to convince lamp that it was mono in, at trying to force him to actually test what it was doing, when he believed it was stereo in.

I had absolutely no recollection that you were involved in that conversation, or that you would take offence and be paranoid enough to think that it was another attempt to discredit you.

They were two brief references to situations in which forum members had come to believe one thing, and it was very hard to convince them that it was incorrect, the references were not about, or directed at, you.

FFS, again, get a f**king grip.

If I see something that I think is wrong, I will try to correct it, or at least argue my theory as to why it is wrong. It is absolutely nothing to do with you, you are being paranoid.

Though, the EB16 does have a mono input to the effects chain, what do you think that combining left and right into one signal is doing, it is sending a mono signal into the EB16. That has nothing to do with it anyway, you are arguing that point now from an incorrect stance as well.

You emphasized the F-ROM as being relevant to troubleshooting a card reader problem, I was pointing out that it is nothing to do with it, you lost the plot.

Yes, so what was that massive cry about?

That is exactly the point I was making.

Why the massive derailment of the thread simply because you couldn't cope with being corrected on a couple of minor (but persistent) incorrect points, which you now admit were incorrect?

Like I said, F-ROM is always there in the list, it isn't hidden at all, it is just there no matter what, and should not be used as a troubleshooting indication of anything else that is unrelated, such as a card reader, working or not.

And, it doesn't get "stuck" on F-ROM at all, if there is no floppy or SCSI devices connected, they are still shown as options in the device list.

so then do it without quoting my post.. because otherwise it's you directing the comment at me. And you claim to forget I was involved in the eb16 thread, yet you choose to randomely bring that one up when talking to me here? How is that paranoid.. how am I supposed to know you didn't remember I was involved in that topic when it's such a specific one... it looks like you are bringing up old shit from old threads.

well you are the one saying the eb16 doesn't have a mono input... I was saying the left and right gets merged somewhere... I wasn't getting all technical on where exactly this happens.. because who cares.. what I know is it does happen since we can tell from the outputted results. How is that the wrong stance? Or does knowing the technicals and jargon allow you to get a stereo sound to ouput in stereo without being merged? I mean, it doesn't bother me all that much because I only sample in mono.. I never use stereo samples in the 2000.. so this limitation doesn't apply to me...

all right cool... we established that... next time someone posts a cf problem and mentions the f-rom (like the dozens of previous times I've seen it) ill let you jump all over them for how irrelevant it is.

Now, remind me how the answer I gave to solve the problem is wrong (regardless of how I chose to identify his issue)? or does getting os 1.20 solve the issue? And is a under 5 dollar floppy drive the cheapest way to do it? We need your approval to confirm if os 1.20 will work for him and if a floppy drive can be used to do the job.

I didn't quote "your" post at all.

I very briefly referenced the difficulty in trying to convince Lamp that the EB16 effects have a mono input, and were not stereo in as he believed.

He thought they were stereo in and stereo out, that they preserved the stereo signal through the effects chain, I only remembered that it was a sh!tfight to get him to actually test it himself, and then realise that it was summing the stereo signal to mono on input to the EB16.

I had no recollection or idea that you claimed ownership of that thread, or would have some bizarre paranoid total over-reaction to such a brief mention in passing.

I didn't direct it at you, I doubt anyone else saw it as an attack on you, and am really not sure why you are having such a paranoid over-reaction to it.

Maybe you should go back and re-read what I said, cause you seem to be totally over-reacting to everything here.

What is going on, is this related to my anti-piracy stance in the other thread, I am not sure where your paranoia is coming from?

well you are the one saying the eb16 doesn't have a mono input...

Hang on, something bizarre is going on right there, can't you see it!

You are quoting me, and then claiming that I am saying the exact opposite of what you have just quoted me as saying?

I really don't understand what is going on in your head, sorry.

You said this...
"I obviously know the eb16 isn't mono in"

..so, if it isn't mono in, then you are saying it is stereo in.

I am saying it isn't, it is mono in.

mr_debauch wrote:all right cool... we established that...

Sorry, what did we establish? A massive and bizarre paranoid over-reaction?

mr_debauch wrote:next time someone posts a cf problem and mentions the f-rom (like the dozens of previous times I've seen it) ill let you jump all over them for how irrelevant it is.

If they mention it, I will point out it is incorrect.

Again, I don't see that I jumped all over anything, go back and read what I initially said.

If you want to over-react to me pointing out a couple of mistakes, that is your choice, I will keep arguing incorrect points as long as you want.

mr_debauch wrote:Now, remind me how the answer I gave to solve the problem is wrong (regardless of how I chose to identify his issue)? or does getting os 1.20 solve the issue? More over-reaction.

How about you remind me where I said that the answer you gave to solve the problem is wrong?

Go back and read my first response, it is all perfectly reasonable, the rest of this crap is you getting paranoid and thinking that a couple of minor technical corrections are some sort of personal attack.

You said "3) get a scsi zip drive, a disk, and either a usb zip drive or a PCI scsi adapter... this is a bad idea... it will cost a lot to do... "

I simply questioned why it was a bad idea, as you provided no details.

To me, $50-75 for an external Zip solution, that can be used in conjunction with the internal card reader, at any time, does not equate to "it will cost a lot to do".

You have lost the plot, and think that I am making some sort of personal attack against you, because you can't handle a couple of minor technical corrections.

You need to take a step back, read it through again, and stop being so paranoid.

What paranoia? how is that an applicable term here? You quoted me here, you were talking about a thread that I was involved in.. and you were the one talking about all the terrible miss-information on these forums... so... since I know I was involved in trying to explain to lamp why he was receiving what he thought was a stereo signal when doing the test his first time... and you bringing up facts of that topic here... it didn't occur to me that you didn't know I was involved... sorry for that. My bad, as I said.. when I read that, it looked like you were trying to provide a parallel to my not noticing that f-rom was something that always showed in the mpc2000xl.

Now, the OP said for him to get a zip setup with a usb zip drive... for some reason where ever he lives... he somehow thinks that would cost him a lot of money... I dont know where he is getting the 300 dollars price range from (maybe he's in some middle of nowhere area of the world or something.. who knows) which is why I said that option was a bad idea... that and buying a used zip drive runs the risk of it not working (the click) which is common.. he could be out a bit of cash there... and floppy is the cheapest way I can think of to get the job done. Maybe i'm wrong... but if there is one I dont actually know of it.

Now, when I upgraded my 2000xl at the time.. I personally never got stuck in a way where I somehow thought the f-rom had to do with the cf reader... I dont exactly know why so many people over the years did think that. If I had to guess, maybe when they do into the disk screen... doesn't it cycle through the scsi numbers and then stop at f-rom? maybe that is it? Im not sure... maybe they think f-rom means flash rom, and the name cf means compact flash.. so they think the flash in both names is talking about the same device? I am not sure... but I guess they dont know about the actual f-rom expansion. Now, that being said... this is something that has often been an area that people got stuck on and threads have been made talking about this OP's exact situation.. and in every one of those cases, it was that they installed the cf reader, and didn't install 1.20 first. I remember the answer to every time that was asked in the past.. and it reminded me of those threads reading this one... it wasn't from a personal experience of not being able to use the cf adapter myself... but it was my bad not realizing that the f-rom symbol is always present after scsi-7.. that I didn't check to verify, I took your word for it since I dont have a 2000xl.. but for some reason I thought it was like the cd-rom and magneto optical symbols. So cool, you cleared that up... even if the solution I provided was actually correct... you just were trying to inform the dude of why it was correct. I get it.

So sorry for looking too deep at your innocent minor technical corrections.. it came off as nitpicking to me, and right at a time where you looked real upset in the piracy thread... which I thought you blew out of proportion comparing it to home invasion or what ever. But piracy is an interesting topic when people aren't getting too deep with the feelings talk.. I read torrent freak now and then just to see how some of the cases play out (a lot of them are international cases where certain people are not breaking laws in their own country but are being extradited to other countries where they can be prosecuted...) That doesn't mean I am for the pirating of rohan's OS though, as I said multiple times... and the roger linn chip thing I put him on blast for that when he got caught... but that dude doesn't care about who thinks it's wrong, right? no point in getting all crazy about it. At the same time, I pointed out my distaste for resellers inflating prices. I didn't think anything less of you for what you said in that thread, but I did think you were getting a bit TOO upset over it like this is your first week on the internet and didn't know it's a fact of life these days.

Anyhow, enough with this... you set the record with the f-rom thing, the OP knows he needs 1.20, you are more disgusted with rohan's os being stolen that I am, and we both seem to know the eb16 **** stereo samples.

Paranoia, look it up.

Thinking that I am somehow personally attacking you, that a brief reference to how hard it was to get Lamp to actually test what was happening was some sort of attack on you, you are being paranoid.

I corrected two minor technical points, that are commonly repeated on these forums, but are not correct.

Calling it "terrible miss-information" is yet more over-reaction from you, more drama where none is needed.

Get a f**king grip, get over the fact that you were wrong on a couple of minor points, quit making such a big f**king deal out of nothing and being such a drama queen FFS.

People are going to have different opinions to you, and point out if you are wrong, deal with it.

I'm over it, you're being a d**k.

Why don't you stfu simon, now you're being a dick.. you have the nerve to even use the term drama queen when you got the most e-motional that anyone ever has on these forums towards micb because it was your first exposure to copyright infringement.. talking about how sick and disgusted you were over what he did.. comparing it to B&E and home robberies just like some stealing cable commercial. GTFOH, why don't you go cry looking at the pirate bay home page.
